Obituary

Sharon Sue Grasmick, 82, of Rocky Ford Colorado passed peacefully on April 16, 2025, at the Arkansas Valley Regional Medical Center in La Junta, Colorado. Sharon was born on April 9, 1943, to Leonard Benjamen Sr. & Irma Joyce (Flaiz) Hannebaum in Trinidad, Colorado.

Sharon attended school most of her younger years in Rocky Ford and Graduated from Rocky Ford High School in 1961. She married Ronald E. Grasmick Sr. October 29, 1961, and lived in the Rocky Ford area her entire life. Starting out, she worked as a car hop at a local drive inn. She also worked at Freeman's Bakery in Rocky Ford. Most of her career was spent working in the cafeteria at Rocky Ford High School. She helped start and run the "Snack Bar" at the high school, which was very popular with the students if they didn't care for the lunch being served that day. She made friends with all the students that came through the line. She and Ron moved to Yuma, Arizona, for two years. She was also in food service there. She managed the Deli at a K-Mart during their time in Arizona. They returned to Rocky Ford, and she worked at the Pioneer Nursing home. Her final job, working outside the home, was at Harris Pharmacy.

Her priority, and first job, was being a farmer's wife. She spent countless hours in the field driving a tractor, hoeing, picking produce, irrigating, and any other job that needed doing. Ron had Sharon and her sister Judy driving silage trucks one year and said they were the best truck drivers he ever had.

Sharon is survived by her two sons, Ronald (Eddie) Grasmick Jr. and Veldon (Kelly) Grasmick. Grandchildren Derek (Danelle) Grasmick, Jessica (Kilian) Rivas, Cayla (Rhett) Proctor, Garrett (Kiana) Grasmick, and Dillon Grasmick. Great Grandchildren Lucas, Renna, Wesley, Lilly, Leo, Sam, Adeline, Diana and Haysen. Sisters-in-law Shirley Hannebaum and Janice (Dave) Crossen.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Leonard Sr. & Irma Hannebaum; and husband, Ronald Grasmick Sr. In-laws, George and Vivian (Corf) Grasmick, as well as sisters and brothers-in-law, Joyce and Dick Paugh, Selma and Kenneth Bolling, and Judy and Bill Miller.
