Obituary

Dorothy T. Soto, 78, of La Junta, passed away on April 10, 2025, at Blue Stem Village in La Junta, Colorado. She was born February 17, 1947, in La Junta to Frank Fry & Mary (Montano) Tafoya.

Dorothy is survived by her significant other, Oscar Aguilar of La Junta; children, Doreen Chavez of Pueblo, CO; Donald (Arlene) Romero of Pueblo, CO; Duane (Christina) Romero of La Junta, CO; Nettie Arellano of La Junta, CO; Teresa (Rogelio) Cardona of La Junta, CO; and Jeremy Garcia of La Junta, CO; grandchildren, Foresee Chavez, Chezaray Chavez, Cassandra Lujan, Andrew Romero, Anissa Romero, Enriquez Romero, Danelissa Romero, Dimitri Romero, Sierra Romero, Mattaio Romero, Soraya Arellano, Venicio Castillo, Nayeli Arellano, Nayzeli Arellano, Francisco Zubia, Jr., Isaiah Zubia and Zayden Zubia; twenty-four great grandchildren; siblings, Irene Garcia and Robert Tafoya; numerous nieces, nephews, godsons, and goddaughters also survive.

Dorothy is preceded in death by her parents, Mary & Frank Tafoya; grandson, Emilio Vigil-Romero; siblings, Gilbert Montano, Raymond Vigil, Johnny Vigil, Jessie Castanon, Ida Tafoya, Mable Raso and Cortie Tafoya; nieces, Marcela Montano, Marylou Aguilar, Lilly Raso, & Nancy Mata; and nephews, Frankie Castanon & Christopher Raso.

Visitation will be held Thursday, April 24, 2025, from 3:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m. at Peacock Memorial Chapel in La Junta. Funeral Service will be held Friday, April 25, 2025, at 10:00 a.m. at Victorious Church in Swink, CO, with Pastor Daniel Blackwell of Victorious Church officiating. Interment to follow in La Junta.
