Obituary
Saturnino “Fred” Rivera of Rocky Ford, Colorado entered into rest April 8, 2025 in his home.
He was born on July 03, 1939, in La Jara, New Mexico to Federico and Manuelita Rivera. He was 85years of age.
Fred is survived by daughter Lisa Rivera of Rocky Ford, son Troy Rivera (Cody McIntosh) of Surprise AZ, grandsons Kevin Rivera of Rocky Ford, John Phillip Jimenez Jr. (Jasmine Jimenez) of Rocky Ford, great-grandchildren Nayeli, Jose, and Sophia, sister Cindy Medrano. Also, his beloved pets Memphis, Sable, numerous nieces and nephews.
He is preceded in death by his wife Josie Rivera, parents Federico and Manuelita Rivera, brothers John Rivera, Nasario Rivera, Leopoldo Rivera, Arturo Rivera, and sisters Mary Martinez and Angelina Gallegos.
Fred was the youngest of 8 children. He served his country in the United States Army. After the military, Fred met Josefa (Josie) Aparicio. She was the love of his life. They were married on January 24, 1974, having two children together and raising their family in Rocky Ford, Colorado. He worked at Valco as a concrete truck driver for 33 years, later retiring from Habitat Construction (Valcrete). Fred was a loving devoted man and gave his family the best life he could. He loved spending time with his family and hanging out with the guys. He enjoyed gambling, especially taking trips to Cripple Creek; he competed in a bowling league; and he loved to go fishing. Fred never missed a Sunday in church and prayed the Rosary every night. His pride and joy were his grandsons who he would do just about anything for. He was a generous man and would lend a helping hand when needed. Fred will be greatly missed by his family and friends.
A Memorial Mass will be held Wednesday April 16, 2025 at St. Peter’s Catholic Church in Rocky Ford.
