03:16 A Deputy and the Baca County Coroner’s Office completed a Death Notification on Hwy 89 in Baca County.
17:15 A Deputy responded to a report of livestock out on Hwy 160 at MM465. Owner was contacted and the livestock was contained inside of the fence.

17:46 Deputies and EMS/Fire/CSP responded to (non-injury) traffic accident involving a vehicle vs deer on Hwy 160 near Vilas.
23:31 A Deputy responded to 400 Block of East 7th Ave in Springfield to provide backup for a Springfield PD Officer dealing with an assault. One person was arrest by SPD for Harassment and Domestic Violence.

10:18 Deputies arrested a male subject with an outstanding arrest warrant, in the 200 block of East 2nd Ave in Springfield. The subject was booked into jail on the warrant and released after posting bond.
10:45 A Deputy was dispatched to the 100 block of Indiana Street in Walsh for a report of a Burglary. The deputy spoke with the reporting party and found that nothing was missing from the residence. This case remains under investigation.
10:49 Deputies and the Springfield PD provided traffic control for a funeral in the 200 block of East 2nd Ave in Springfield.
10:54 Walsh Fire/EMS and a Deputy responded to a fire alarm in the 300 block of West Poplar Street in Walsh. Upon further investigation it was determined that the alarm was a false alarm and no fire was located.
14:21 A Deputy was dispatched to 600 block of West 6th Ave in Springfield to assist Springfield PD and EMS with unruly subject. The subject refused medical treatment and eventually calmed down. No further action was required.
21:07 Deputies responded to 1100 block of Hill Street in Springfield to assist Springfield PD with a report of gunshots. It was later determined that the noise was illegal fireworks and not a gunshot. This case is still being investigated by the Springfield Police Department.
23:21 A Deputy was dispatched to a traffic complaint on Hwy 160. The deputy responded to the area but was unable to locate the vehicle in question.
23:35 While on patrol, a Deputy clocked a vehicle speeding 87mph in a 65mph zone on Hwy 287 near Springfield. The deputy contacted the vehicle and issued the driver a citation for speeding.

10:40 Baca County Dispatch received a call from a stranded motorist on Hwy 287. The Deputy located the vehicle and the driver. The vehicle was having mechanical issues and the deputy called a tow truck. The tow truck arrived and rescued the vehicle and the driver.
12:09 Deputies were dispatched to a domestic situation on Hwy 160 at County Road Y. A Deputy made contact with the parties and determined that the male party had a Protection Order against him, with the female party being the protected person. The male party was arrested for Violation of a Protection Order and Domestic Violence.
13:50 Baca County Dispatch received a report of a vehicle in the ditch on Hwy 160 at MM 475. The Deputy located the vehicle and found no one inside. The vehicle was off of the roadway and not a hazard.
14:54 Baca County Dispatch received a report of a 2 vehicle accident at the intersection of Hwy 160 and Hwy 287. Fire, EMS, Springfield PD, CSP, and a deputy were dispatched to the scene. Upon arrival it was determined that only one vehicle was involved in the accident and there were no injuries. Colorado State Patrol handled the accident investigation.
19:18 Fire, EMS, CSP, and a deputy were dispatched to a one vehicle accident on Hwy 160 at County Road 24.6. Upon arrival it was determined that the vehicle had lost control on the icy roads and slid off into the ditch. The driver could not be located and a search was conducted around the scene but no one was located. Colorado State Patrol is handling the accident investigation.
20:24 Baca County Dispatch received a 911 call reporting a one vehicle roll-over on Hwy 287 at County Road F. Fire, EMS, CSP, and a deputy responded to the scene. One occupant had minor injuries, the rest reported no injuries. Colorado State Patrol handled the accident investigation.

13:06 A Deputy was dispatched to a motorist assist on Hwy 160 east of Springfield. The motorist had a blown tire. The deputy arrived and called a tow truck for the motorist.

00:55 A Deputy responded to a report of Trespassing in the 100 block of Walnut Street in Campo. After talking with all parties involved, the Reporting Party decided not to press charges and all parties agreed to set up a civil standby to deal with the rest of the contested property. No Charges Filed.
10:05 Dispatch received a traffic complaint on Hwy 287 at MM 53 which is in Prowers County. Dispatch received numerous complaints from the reporting party in Baca County. The Sheriff contacted both the reporting driver and the suspect driver in Springfield. After talking with both drivers and explaining that both drivers could be cited for violations, both drivers decided not to press charges and both drivers were released with verbal warning for aggressive driving behaviors. No charges filed.
11:52 Fire, EMS, and a Deputy responded to the 48000 block of County Road J for a camper trailer fire. The fire was extinguished and no one was hurt in the incident. Upon further investigation, the likely cause of the fire was portable heaters being used in the camper as a heat source. No charges filed.

15:32 Baca County Dispatch received a report via 911 of a traffic complaint on Hwy 287 at County Road LL. Caller’s cell phone service was not good and dispatch had difficulty understanding the reporting party. By the time dispatch was able to re-contact the Reporting Party the vehicle in question was no longer in Baca County. The traffic complaint was passed to Colorado State Patrol.

14:43 Baca County Dispatch assisted Baca County Courts with entering an arrest warrant into CCIC/NCIC.
14:51 The Sheriff took a report of Fraud from a resident 300 block of North Kansas in Walsh. Upon further investigation it was determined that the issue was a civil matter and the resident was given advice on how to handle the issue. No charges filed.
15:11 Two Deputies completed a prisoner transport from Prowers County Jail to the Baca County Jail on a person with a warrant out of Baca County District Court.
17:17 Fire, EMS, Springfield PD, and two Deputies responded to a two vehicle crash in the 500 block of Main Street in Springfield. The accident resulted in minor injuries and property damage to a Light Pole. Springfield PD handled the accident investigation.
20:20 Two Deputies assisted Springfield PD in the 100 block of West 11th Ave in Springfield for a commercial Burglary Alarm. It was determined that the alarm was set off by an employee that was working late. No charges filed.
21:09 Deputies completed a Security Check in Campo at the Campo School. Building was secure.

15:30 Several Officers from Springfield PD, Baca County Sheriff’s Office, Sheriff’s Posse, and CDOT; manned a Road Closure of Hwy 287 south bound due to several trucks jack knifed on Hwy 287 in Oklahoma.

01:12 Fire, EMS, CSP, and two deputies responded to a Semi-truck roll over in the 5000 block of CR 36. The two occupants of the truck were not injured. Colorado State Patrol handled the accident investigation.
05:36 CSP and a Deputy responded to report of a semi-truck in the ditch at MM1 on Hwy 287. The driver was not injured and truck was not damaged in the incident. Officers called a tow truck for the semi.
07:52 The Deputy on patrol contacted a Semi-truck on Hwy 287 at the Oklahoma State Line that had two blown tires. The driver was waiting on roadside assistance to come and fix his tires.
14:04 Baca County Dispatch received a report of careless driving in the 9000 block of Hwy 287. The vehicle was passing unsafely. The on-duty Deputy was unable to locate the vehicle in question.
16:52 A Deputy responded to a request for welfare check on a man in a wheelchair on the side of the road on Hwy 287 at MM 32. The subject was picked up by a private citizen and transported into Springfield.

04:46 The Deputy on patrol conducted a traffic stop on Hwy 287 at MM24. Driver was given a verbal warning for unsafe passing and following too close.
11:39 EMS and a Deputy responded to an unattended death in the 200 block of East 3rd Street in Campo. The coroner was requested to respond. The Deputy and the Coroner conducted an investigation and the death was found to be from natural causes.
18:49 A Deputy was dispatched to a report of Theft in the 200 block of Walnut Street in Campo. The Deputy talked to the reporting party and found that some jewelry was missing. The reporting party declined to press charges and the suspects that were staying at the residence were asked to leave the property and not return. No charges filed.

22:37 A Deputy responded to the 200 block of East 8th Ave in Springfield to back-up a Springfield PD Officer handling a family fight in progress. The two alleged victims declined to press charges against the other party involved and were told to call law enforcement if things escalated again. No charges filed.

00:50 The On-duty Deputy was dispatch to a security alarm in the 27000 block of Hwy 287 in Springfield. A Springfield PD Officer responded also for back-up. The building was secure. The key holder was notified and arrived on scene. The building was searched and no sign of forced entry was found.
01:29 A Deputy conducted a traffic stop in the 1100 block of Springfield for failure to display headlights. After talking with the driver it was determined that the vehicle was having electrical issues. The Deputy escorted the vehicle to a local motel where they stayed until repairs could be made. A verbal warning was given for the violation.

10:46 The Sheriff arrested a male party on a valid arrest warrant out of Las Animas County Courts. The subject posted bond and was released.
16:48 Two Deputies attempted to serve civil papers in the 300 block of East 8th Ave in Springfield.
21:21 Deputies conducted a security check at the Walsh School. The building was found to be not secured. The deputies were able to secure the building and the key holder was notified of the situation.
22:36 Deputies conducted a security check at the Pritchett School. The building was found to be not secured. The key holder was notified and the problem was corrected.
22:56 Deputies responded to a report of debris in the highway on Hwy 287 at MM22. The deputies located a piece of a semi-trailer in the roadway at that location and removed the obstruction.

08:42 The Sheriff was dispatched to an animal problem in the 200 block of East Oak Street in Walsh. After talking with the resident and finding that the animals had proper food, water, and shelter, the resident was educated about proper animal care and animal neglect laws. The resident stated that they had been bringing the animals inside at night during cold weather. This case remains under investigation.
12:07 The Sheriff responded to a traffic complaint on Hwy 287 north of Springfield. The Sheriff made contact with the suspect vehicle at MM32 on Hwy 287. It was determined after talking with the reporting party and the suspect driver that the violation occurred in Prowers County. The driver was given a verbal warning for following too closely.
15:31 Baca County Dispatch received a report of Fraud in the 400 block of North Colorado Street in Walsh. Deputies responded and spoke with the reporting party. It was determined that the reporting party had received a fraudulent invoice for a service that they did not receive. The reporting party was instructed to notify their bank to make sure no invoices had been paid. This case remains under investigation.
17:48 Deputies conducted a traffic stop in the 100 block of East 7th Ave in Springfield for a vehicle with no tail lights. The Driver was unaware of the issue and was given a verbal warning for the violation.
18:23 Two Deputies responded to a report of suspicious activity in the 200 block of Ash Street in Walsh. Deputies were advised that an unknown male party was acting suspiciously at the Walsh City Park. Deputies spoke with the reporting party and got a description of the individual and the vehicle they were driving. The deputies patrolled the Walsh area for approx. an hour looking for the suspect but were unable to locate any person or vehicle matching the description given. This case remains under investigation.
18:29 Baca County Dispatch received a report of cows out on Hwy 160 at MM 475. Because the Deputies were busy on the previous call for service, Dispatch contacted the livestock owner and the owner took care of the issue.

00:56 Deputies were asked to conduct a welfare check in the 100 block of Walnut Street in Campo. The reporting party stated that they had not heard from the male party in several days and that they may not have heat inside of the residence. Deputies made contact with the male party and he advised them that he was fine. Deputies asked him to contact the reporting party and let them know he was fine.
11:43 Fire, EMS, Springfield PD, and Deputies were dispatched to the 900 block of Main Street for possible smoke coming from a building. Fire units arrived and determined that there was no fire at that location. The business owner was notified of the situation.
14:22 Deputies were dispatched to a civil dispute in the 13000 block of CR U south of Pritchett. The Reporting Party advised Dispatch of an ongoing property line dispute between him and his neighbor. The Deputies went to the property and determined that the incident was a civil matter between the two neighbors. No charges filed.
15:11 Deputies conducted a civil standby in the 200 block of Walnut Street in Campo. After determining that the incident was an ongoing civil matter between land lord and tenant, the Deputies conducted a civil standby so that the tenant could retrieve their belonging from the residence. No charges filed.
17:36 Deputies conducted a traffic stop in the 28000 block of Hwy 287. The driver was given a verbal warning for unsafe passing.
18:08 Deputies took a report of vandalism in the 15000 block of CR V south of Pritchett. The reporting party advised the deputies of an ongoing issue of vandalism between them and their neighbor. The reporting party reported damage to a stock tank and other items. The reporting party provided pictures and a written statement to the deputies. The reporting party has installed several game cameras in the area to protect their property. This case remains under investigation.
18:49 A Deputy received a report of livestock out in the 26000 block of Hwy 160. The deputy arrived at the scene and spoke to a private citizen that stated they had already put the animals back behind the fence.
19:35 A Deputy conducted a traffic stop in the 1100 block of Main Street in Springfield for a semi-truck parked in the turning lane. The driver moved the truck and was given a verbal warning for illegal parking.
20:56 Deputies provided backup to a Springfield PD Officer while the officer was dealing with an ongoing domestic violence situation in the 200 block of East 8th Ave in Springfield. The officers determined that the male party had been with the female party at the house but had left before law enforcement arrived. Officers determined that a valid Protection Order was in effect between the two restraining the male party from contact with the female party. Officers searched the area for the male party but were unable to locate him. Springfield PD is handling the investigation which remains ongoing.
21:30 Baca County Dispatch received a call from a local citizen stating that they were trying to get to Walsh from Campo and had gotten lost. Deputies were dispatched and were able to locate the lost party and their vehicle on CR 44 and CR AA near Walsh. The driver had been previously warned about their vehicle not having current registration. Deputies issued the driver a summons for no proof of insurance and no valid registration. The Deputies called a tow truck and had the vehicle towed. The driver was taken to their residence in Walsh.

13:50 Baca County Dispatch received a report of a dog running at large five miles south of Springfield on Hwy 287. A Deputy responded to the area but was unable to locate the dog.
14:40 A Springfield PD Officer and BCSO Deputy responded to the Baca County Courthouse for a non- injury property damage accident. The driver had struck a concrete barrier on Courthouse property causing minor damage. The driver made arrangements to cover the damages to the County. No charges filed.
19:55 Baca County Dispatch assisted the Baca County Courts by providing detailed information on warrant entry into CCIC/NCIC.

20:34 Fire, EMS, Springfield PD Officer, and a BCSO Deputy were dispatched to a semi-truck with a wheel on fire in the 27000 block of Hwy 287. The Deputy had stopped the truck after a citizen had reported the issue. Fire was able to safely extinguish the fire and the truck was moved to the Springfield Truck Stop for repairs. No charges filed.

10:32 Baca County Dispatch received a report of harassment in the 49000 block of CR BB near Walsh. The Sheriff contacted the reporting party via phone. The reporting party stated that they had been receiving harassing text messages from another party in Walsh. The Sheriff contacted the suspected party and explained they would be charged with harassment if the texts did not stop. The suspect was also informed that they are not allowed on or near the reporting party’s residence. The suspect party agreed to stop texting and would not contact them again. No charges filed.
14:15 The Sheriff conducted a traffic stop on Hwy 287 at MM 28 for speeding. The driver was issued a citation for speeding 86mph in a posted 65mph zone.
14:45 The Sheriff conducted a traffic stop on Hwy 287 at MM 21 for speeding. The driver was issued a citation for speeding 87mph in a posted 65mph zone.
14:50 Deputies responded to a domestic situation in the 29000 block of CR 39.4 near Walsh. By time Law Enforcement arrived the female suspect had left the scene. Upon further investigation Deputies determined that the female suspect was intoxicated and had broken some windows out of a vehicle. The Deputies looked for the female suspect in the area but were unable to locate her. The Deputies were notified by a local citizen that they had picked the female up on the roadway and taken her to convenience store in Springfield. Dispatch requested SPD to look for the female but they were unable to locate her either. The Deputies applied for an arrest warrant for the female for Criminal Mischief and Domestic Violence and she was arrested several days later in Springfield.
15:31 Deputies were requested to do a civil standby in the 100 block of North Nevada in Walsh. The standby was completed without incident.

08:08 Baca County Detention Deputies completed a sex offender registration at the Sheriff’s Office in Springfield.
13:42 Baca County Dispatch assisted the Baca County Courts by providing detailed information on a Court entered warrant.
16:45 A Deputy responded to livestock out near Vilas. The livestock owner was notified and the livestock was returned to their pasture.
16:49 Deputies were requested to conduct a welfare check in the 200 block West 16th Ave. The subject was found to be fine.

00:29 Deputies conducted a security check at the Vilas School. The building was not secure and a key holder was notified. The key holder arrived and the problem was corrected.
02:13 Springfield PD and Deputies responded to an alarm at a business in the 27000 block of Hwy 287 in Springfield. Upon further investigation, it was determined that the alarm was a fire alarm and was malfunctioning. The manager was notified and the officers cleared the scene.
17:23 Deputies assisted Springfield PD with a subject having mental health issues in the 27000 block of Hwy 287 in Springfield. The subject was transported to the hospital for treatment.
22:30 While on patrol, Deputies located a vehicle abandoned on the roadway on CR 28. The owner was contacted and the vehicle was moved to a safe location.
23:34 Deputies conducted a security check at the Walsh School. The building was not secure. The deputies were able to secure the building and the key holder was notified.

15:27 The Undersheriff received a request for an agency assist for Douglas County Sheriff’s Office. The Undersheriff conducted an interview of a party in Springfield reference their involvement in a case in Douglas County.
21:05 Deputies conducted a traffic stop in the 800 block of Main Street in Springfield. The driver was lost and the deputies were able to give them directions. The driver moved their vehicle to a local motel and given a verbal warning for parking in the roadway.

00:13 Deputies preformed a security check at the Springfield Elementary School. The Deputies found the building not be secure and contacted a maintenance person that was still at the school about the problem.
01:11 A Deputy contacted a vehicle in the 100 block of Main Street in Springfield for being parked at a local business after hours. The driver stated he had pulled over to rest, and was checked for warrants. No charges filed.
01:34 A Deputy contacted a suspicious vehicle parked behind a business at the intersection of Hwy 287 and Hwy 160. Everything checked out with the vehicle and the Deputy cleared the area.
02:03 While on patrol, Deputies contacted a local man looking in the windows of a closed business in the 1100 block of Main Street in Springfield. The subject was checked for warrants and then asked to leave the area. The deputies stayed in the area and monitored the male subject until he left the area.
13:53 Deputies responded to a report of dogs attacking livestock in the 27000 block of Hwy 287 near Springfield. The owner of the livestock did not want to press charges. The owner of the dogs was located and retrieved the dogs and agreed to pay for the vet bills on the livestock. No charges filed.

08:25 A Deputy took a report of Theft and Fraud from a citizen living in the Denver area. The victim stated that they had sent money to someone claiming to live in Vilas for the purpose of buying a dog. The deputy conducted an investigation and found that the victim had been scammed and no such person or address existed. This case remains under investigation.
09:22 The on-duty Deputy responded to report of a single vehicle non-injury crash in the 40000 block of Hwy 287. The driver had slid of the road and had minor damage to his vehicle. The Deputy contacted Colorado State Patrol and the driver was told to counter report the accident using their website within the next 24 hours. No charges filed.

08:50 Baca County Dispatch received a 911 hang up call. Dispatch tried to call the number back but no one answered. A Deputy responded to the location that the call came from and contacted the resident. No emergency existed and the deputy cleared the location.

08:02 The Sheriff and two Deputies transported an inmate experiencing mental health issues to Ft Lupton. The inmate was court ordered to be transported to a mental Health facility for treatment. Transport was completed without incident.
14:17 The Undersheriff took a report of a stolen vehicle at CR 32 and CR N south of Springfield. Upon talking with the vehicle owner, the Undersheriff determined that the issue was a civil matter and that the owner and the suspect had entered into an agreement after the owner had tried to report the vehicle stolen. No charges filed.
15:37 The Undersheriff attempted to serve civil papers in the 45000 block of CR N south of Walsh.

10:10 Baca County Dispatch and Jail Staff completed a sex offender registration at the Sheriff’s Office.
12:04 The Sheriff took a report of Theft from a resident in the 30000 block of CR 51 east of Walsh. After talking with the resident it was determined that the incident was a civil matter between the two parties. The Sheriff encouraged the resident to pursue a civil case in County Court. No charges filed.
13:41 Baca County Dispatch received a report of heavy smoke north and east of Lycan. The Sheriff responded to the area and determined that the fire was in Hamilton County Kansas. Baca County Dispatch confirmed this with Hamilton County authorities.
17:32 While on patrol a Deputy conducted a traffic stop just north of Springfield on Hwy 287. The driver was cited for speeding 38mph in a 30mph zone.
20:20 Deputies conducted a traffic stop in the intersection of Hwy 287 and Hwy 160 in Springfield. The driver was given a verbal warning for defective equipment and the defective equipment was repaired.
20:35 Deputies responded to a report of a fire near the intersection of CR 26.5 and CR EE near Springfield. Upon arrival the Deputies found that the fire was a controlled burn that was unreported. The Deputies gave a verbal warning for failure to report the controlled burn. No charges filed.
20:52 While on patrol Deputies contacted a vehicle that was illegally displaying red and blue lights. The driver and the vehicle were from out of state. The driver removed the lights from his vehicle and given a verbal warning for the violation and told that he would be arrested if another violation occurred.

08:42 The Sheriff provided back-up for a Springfield PD Officer who was asked to conduct a welfare check in the 100 block of East 4th Ave in Springfield. The Springfield Officer was able to make contact with the resident and everything is fine.

01:46 While on patrol a Deputy conducted a traffic stop in the 1200 block of Main Street in Springfield. The driver was given a verbal warning for defective equipment and the driver was able to repair the light and continue on their way.
02:01 Deputies conducted a traffic stop on Hwy 287 at MM 32. The driver was given a verbal warning for failure to maintain lane.
13:12 The Sheriff and the Springfield Chief of Police responded to the 27000 Block of Hwy 287 in Springfield for a possible domestic situation. Upon further investigation, officers determined that the male party had driven to that location and was under the influence of alcohol. It was also determined that the male party had committed the crimes of Harassment and Domestic Violence, as well as DUI. He was arrested and transported to the Baca County Jail.
16:24 While on patrol Deputies attended a community event at the Springfield High School.
19:30 Springfield PD Officers and Deputies responded to a report of suspicious activity in the 200 block of East 5th Ave in Springfield. The caller reported someone in the next door neighbor’s yard with a flashlight. The caller yelled at the person and they turned to flashlight off. Officers checked the area and were unable to locate anyone. The Officers checked the property and could find no sign of forced entry or theft. Springfield PD is still investigating this incident.
23:10 Baca County Dispatch received a report of a semi-truck dragging a chain and throwing sparks southbound on Hwy 287 into Springfield. Deputies and a Springfield PD Officer were able to contact the vehicle and correct the problem before it started a fire. No charges filed.

01:39 Deputies on patrol conducted a traffic stop on Hwy 287 at MM 31 north of Springfield. The driver was cited for speeding 39mph in a posted 30mph zone. The speed was reduced based a clean driving record.
09:44 A Deputy took a report of harassing phone calls from a citizen in the 200 block of North Missouri Street in Walsh. The reporting party stated that they had received several phone calls from someone threatening them. The calls were determined to be a scam and the number was blocked. This case remains under investigation.
16:15 Two SPD Officers and a Deputy were dispatched to the 1100 block of Main Street in Springfield for a two vehicle non-injury accident. Springfield Officers handled the investigation. It was determined that one of the drivers was under the influence of alcohol and taken for testing. That driver was cited by SPD for displaying fictitious plates, unsafe backing, no proof of insurance, drove vehicle under the influence of alcohol.
18:17 A Deputy conducted a traffic stop on Hwy 287 at MM29. The driver was given a verbal warning for dragging a chain and obstructed trailer plate.
18:43 Baca County Dispatch assisted the Baca County Court by providing detailed information on a court entered warrant.
