Costilla County Sheriff's Office Investigates Fatal Animal Attack

The Costilla County Sheriff's Office Along with The Colorado Bureau of Investigation and Colorado Parks and Wildlife are currently investigating a possible animal attack in the Sangre De Cristo Ranches that possibly led to the death of one individual. We are awaiting results from the El Paso County Coroner to determine the actual cause of death. 

At the time we are unable to verify what type of animal may be responsible for the attack, until further analysis is completed. 

If you live in or around or visit the area, be vigilant and aware of your surroundings. Deputies have hiked the immediate area with the assistance of CBI and were not able to locate anything to identify the animal.
