Position Summary
The Fort Lyon Program Director is responsible for the overall operations of the Fort. Lyon project. Ft. Lyon Supportive Residential Community provides recovery oriented transitional housing to people experiencing homelessness on a sprawling 350-acre campus in Southeastern Colorado. The program combines housing with case management, peer support, and educational, vocational, and employment services for up to 220 people currently or formerly experiencing homelessness from across the state. The Director is responsible for developing, managing, and supervising all aspects of the program under their direction in accordance with applicable policies and procedures established by the CCH Leadership, CCH Board of Directors, and program funders. The position works collaboratively within CCH and with public and private agencies to address the housing and recovery needs of program participants. Fort Lyon is located in the community of Las Animas, Colorado, in Bent County. This role offers the opportunity to be on-site at least four days a week, with built-in flexibility to support a balanced work schedule.
 
Duties/Responsibilities (Essential Functions)
1.    Works to create a supportive working environment that encourages trauma-informed and culturally competent interactions that build collaboration and create a kind and respectful atmosphere throughout the Fort Lyon Program.
 
2.    Supervises direct reports, including providing coaching and problem-solving assistance, providing resources, tools, professional development, leadership development and ongoing support in alignment with department goals.  
      a.    Sets and is responsible for staff performance objectives to meet individual and department goals, as well as grant requirements and other reporting data quality.  
 
3.    Exhibits expertise in maintaining, building and creating strong relationships with agencies in the Arkansas Valley and other areas to promote the Fort Lyon Program and to identify new opportunities for innovation, creates strategies, and processes to better serve the needs of homeless individuals.
 
4.    Partners with Fort Lyon Health Center in maintaining good working relations to support the health care needs of the residents of the program.
 
5.    Collaborates closely with the State of Colorado Department of Local Affairs staff to ensure the success of the Fort Lyon property and program, maintaining compliance with state guidelines and fostering a productive partnership to achieve shared goals.
 
6.    Provides excellent internal and external customer service while implementing quality improvement activities including oversight, execution, documentation, and follow-up.
 
7.     Oversees department contracts and budgets and is accountable for financial expenditures.
 
8.    Work with Education and Advocacy Department on Media Relations such as newspapers, radio, and other forms of communication.
 
9.    Collaborates with Resource Development to seek out new funding for projects that align with the Coalition’s mission and values around serving a range of homeless populations, specifically as it relates to transitional housing.
 
10.   Assures compliance with funding requirements, including reports to grantors and partners and ensuring all verification paperwork and data entry is completed as required by law and/or payor sources.
 
11.   Appropriately responds to crises as they arise in a trauma-informed manner.
 
12.   Understands and follows the related policies and procedures of CCH and supports managers and staff in their compliance with the same.
 
13.   Maintains a work environment marked by respect for others, values inclusiveness and builds workforce diversity, and fosters cooperation and teamwork.
 
14.   Completes other special duties and tasks as assigned.
 
Education, Experience and Job Competencies
·     Bachelors or Master's degree in a relevant field preferred.  Experience may substitute for education.
·     Previous experience in the nonprofit or public sector with grant oversight and strong budgeting and financial management skills, required.
·     Prior management and supervisory experience required.  
·     Experience in community-based recovery support, mental health, and substance use treatment disorders preferred.
·     Lived experience, direct care, or advocacy experience preferred.
·     Experience working with government agencies and the public is preferred.
·     Multi-tasking skills are required.
·     Must be able to communicate effectively with others.
·     Must be able to manage multiple projects in a dynamic environment and use resources wisely.
 
Department Overview & Requirements
Ft. Lyon Supportive Residential Community provides comprehensive services to those who are at risk of or experiencing homelessness with a substance use disorder they desire to work on. Through collaborative program staff efforts, we support individuals in direct access to housing with wraparound services including education, job training opportunities, behavioral health & primary healthcare coordination, income, benefits, and entitlements.

·     Must be able to stand, sit, and walk though out operational work hours.

Working Conditions
·      Flexible schedule options, including potential 4-day, 10-hour work week, with potential for remote work, though the role is primarily onsite.
·     Participation in Ft. Lyon’s on-call structure is required; schedule details are flexible and negotiable.
·     Works primarily in a climate-controlled office.
·     Frequent interpersonal interaction, in addition to weekly meetings and trips out of the office.
·     Routinely exposed to unpleasant odors noxious fumes, excessive noise, and escalated behavior.
·     Business operations may continue in various weather conditions, including snow, extreme cold, hot, and other potentially severe conditions.
·     Travel to other sites within Colorado may be required; you must have a valid driver’s license.
