Obituary

Jean Carr, born Helen "Jean" Weaver, left this world on October 25, 2024 at Crowley County Nursing Center. She was surrounded by family when she peacefully passed away.

Jean was born on November 19, 1944 in Salida, CO, to Ross Weaver and Betty Nelson. She joined her brother Ralph and sister Shirley. Because her father worked construction, they moved a lot. She had many adventures in her childhood. She married Tom Carr in 1969 and later divorced.

Jean's biggest love in life was her children and grandchildren. She loved each of them deeply and treasured any time she shared with them.

Jean had many creative skills. She was a great seamstress, making beautiful clothes for her family including prom dresses for her daughters and a wedding dress for her niece. She loved to create art and enjoyed painting country landscapes, animals, and portraits of her grandchildren. In her later years, quilting was her favorite hobby.

Jean will be missed by all who knew her. Her kindness, creativity, and love for her family will always be remembered. She is preceded in death by her mother Betty Carothers, loving step-father Vernon Carothers, father Ross Weaver, brother Ralph Weaver, sister Shirley Ann Jones, son-in-law Robert “Tuffy” Gonzales and great niece Cheyenne Jones.

She is survived by her two daughters Misty Gonzales and Michele (Barry) Clemmensen, her five grandchildren Luke Gonzales, Ashley Clemmensen-Macek, Amanda Gonzales, Lacey Clemmensen, and Wade Clemmensen. She is also remembered fondly by her nieces Sheri (David) Logan, Rosalind (Jimmy) Smothers, Tonja Hirschler, Shauna Boyd and nephew John Jones, numerous great nieces and nephews, and longtime friends Betsa Hernandez and children, Loretta (Kevin) Harshbarger, Sheila Groves and Barb Reed.

We say goodbye to Jean Carr, a loving mother, grandmother, and talented artist. Services will be held at a later time. The family would like to thank Sangre de Cristo Hospice and Crowley County Nursing Center for their excellent care in Jean’s last days. In lieu of flowers please make any memorial contributions to Sangre de Cristo Hospice, 207 Colorado Ave, La Junta, CO 81050.

Bellwood Ustick Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
