JOB DESCRIPTION FOR PROGRAM SPECIALIST

Position Summary: Will perform duties and responsibilities in relation to the day to day operations of the Housing Authority properties.

Duties & Responsibilities:

Manages properties located in Otero County.

Conducts annual recertification within required time frames, which includes determine tenant rents.

Maintain accurate and complete applicant/participant files.

Educate participants on program requirements and family obligations.

Maintains current information regarding changes in HUD and RD regulations and forms.

Conducts move-ins, and move outs and all related paperwork involved where assigned.

Schedules and conducts inspections of housing units occupied by program participants.

Performs a wide variety of routine clerical work including filing, recording information, applicant intake, assignment of units, lease ups reports, termination of participants, posting and processing tenant rents.

Also answers phone, process work orders and able to give accurate information to the public relating to housing programs.

Operates a computer terminal with office software and special housing programs to prepare correspondence, records, and reports; reports to HUD and RD are submitted via the internet.

Performs other duties as assigned by the ED or his her designee to facilitate in the operations of the housing authority in all aspects of operation.

This position is managed by the Executive Director or his/her designee.

Qualifications:

Graduate from a high school or possess a GED.

Able to type and familiar general office equipment.

Knowledge of Word and Excel.

Possess general office and accounting skills.

Ability to get along with other workers, supervisors, tenants and the general public.

Valid driver's license and ability to obtain auto liability insurance.

Ability to pass CBI background check.

Meet public with tack and courtesy.

Physical Activities/Work Environment:

Essential duties/activities for this position are performed in standard indoor office environment.

Occasionally lifting and carrying objects weighing up to 30 pounds. Occasionally pushing, and pulling objects; occasionally climbing, balancing, stooping, kneeling, crouching, reaching, handling, fingering and feeling to access files, work products, boxes file cabinets, supplies and other objects. Some work will be handled outside of office when inspecting units and grounds.

Hours of Work: M-F 8:00 a.m. to 5:00p.m.

Pay: $15.00 hourly
