Lamar Man Arrested on Drug Distribution Charge Following Las Animas Meth Investigation

On July 3, 2026, officers with the Las Animas Police Department responded to the 400 block of Ambassador Thompson Boulevard after receiving a report of a 911 text from the area.
During the investigation, officers located a bag containing approximately 109 grams of suspected methamphetamine. As a result of the investigation, a suspect was identified, and an arrest warrant was obtained.
On July 23, 2026, officers with the Lamar Police Department arrested Virgil Hunt, 44, of Lamar, Colorado, on the Las Animas Police Department warrant. Hunt was arrested on a charge of possession of a controlled substance with Intent to distribute.
