Alamosa County Pursuit Ends in SWAT Arrest of Wanted Suspect in Monte Vista

High-Speed Pursuit Leads to Arrest Following SWAT Operation
On Tuesday, July 14, 2026, at approximately 11:20 a.m., Deputies with the Alamosa County Sheriff's Office responded to the 4500 block of County Road 3 South, regarding a report of an unwanted individual.
Prior to deputies' arrival, the reporting party identified the individual as Daniel Mascarenas, 43, Alamosa Resident, who was reportedly at the residence in a white Cadillac Escalade. Deputies were aware of previous incidents involving Mascarenas and also knew him to be wanted in reference to several active investigations.
As deputies arrived at the residence, Mascarenas fled the area in the Cadillac Escalade initiating a vehicle pursuit.The pursuit continued through rural Alamosa County before Mascarenas abandoned the vehicle near the intersection of 4th Street and Morris Street in Monte Vista. Deputies and assisting law enforcement agencies conducted an extensive search of the surrounding neighborhoods and nearby fields; however, Mascarenas was not located at that time.
As the investigation continued, investigators developed information regarding Mascarenas' location. On today's date, investigators confirmed that Mascarenas was inside a residence in the 400 block of Dunham Street in Monte Vista.
Based on the information obtained during the investigation, investigators secured a search warrant for the residence. The Alamosa Regional SWAT Team was deployed to safely execute the warrant. Following the execution of the search warrant, Daniel Mascarenas was taken into custody without injury to law enforcement personnel or members of the public.
As a result of this investigation, Mascarenas was arrested on the following charges:

Domestic Violence Sentence Enhancer
Vehicular Eluding (Felony 5)
Second Degree Criminal Trespass
Reckless Endangerment (Misdemeanor 2)
Failure to Obey a Traffic Control Device (Traffic Infraction)
Driving While Revoked (Misdemeanor 2)
Resisting Arrest (Misdemeanor 2)
Obstructing a Peace Officer (Misdemeanor 2)
Possession of a Weapon by a Previous Offender (Felony 6)
Failure or refusal to leave premises upon request of police (Misdemeanor 1)
Unlawful Possession of a Controlled Substance (Drug Misdemeanor 1)
Introduction of Contraband (Felony 6)
Additional charges may be filed as the investigation continues.
