Colorado Bureau of Investigation Assists Florence Police Department in Deadly Shooting Investigation

April 13, 2026 – CBI – Florence, CO –The Colorado Bureau of Investigation is assisting the Florence Police Department (FPD), in actively investigating a deadly shooting that occurred Saturday afternoon in Florence.

The incident took place at approximately 2:25 p.m. on Saturday, April 11th, in the 100 block of  Railroad Avenue. FPD officers, with assistance from the Fremont County Sheriff’s Office, responded to the scene where a 40-year-old male victim sustained a fatal gunshot. 

The 43-year-old female shooter called 911 and is cooperating with investigators. 

The investigation is ongoing and no arrests have been made at this time. All suspects are  presumed innocent. 

The identity of the victim is being withheld pending positive identification and will be released by the Fremont County Coroner. The CBI and Florence Police wish to thank the Fremont County Sheriff’s Office and the Colorado State Patrol for their assistance during the initial response.
