Description: Pueblo firefighters responded to an early morning blaze, rescuing a family, four dogs, and even a pot-bellied pig. While no people were injured, several beloved pets were lost. Pueblo Firefighters Save Family and Animals in Early Morning Blaze; Pig Survives
At 6:54am Pueblo Fire department responded to a working structure fire near 29th street.
Upon arrival crews found heavy fire conditions in the rear and side of the home.
Fire suppression was initiated with consideration for a neighboring home that was at risk. Incoming fire crews started an aggressive search for life as firefighters worked to extinguish the fire.
4 family members were displaced with no injuries.
4 dogs and a potbellied pig survived but unfortunately 4 cats and 2 Guinea pigs did not make it out.
All crews have returned to service and a fire investigation for cause and origin is underway...
