Obituary

Norman Lee Coen, 86, passed away peacefully at his home on February 22, 2026, with his family by his side.  He was born on December 23, 1939, in Lamar, Colorado, to Delbert and Vaunee (Archer) Coen.

Norman attended Wiley Schools graduating in 1958.  Following graduation, Norman began working for Heiss Heating and Air. He later joined the United States Army, faithfully serving his country. After receiving an honorable discharge, Norman returned to Lamar and resumed his work with Heiss Heating and Air before beginning a new chapter, farming alongside his uncles, Seth and Charles Coen.

From 1972 until 1978, Norman and his brother, Larry owned and operated Agricultural Supply and Fabrication. In 1979, he returned to farming until retirement.

Norman enjoyed the outdoors and found great pleasure in hunting and fishing. He had a talent for building and fixing things, always willing to put his hands to work on a new project. One of his greatest joys was flying airplanes — a hobby that reflected both his adventurous spirit and love of freedom.

He was a member of Lamar Christian Church and valued his faith and community.

Norman is survived by his wife, Carol (Swift) Coen; children, Monty (Jana) Coen and Brady (Talara) Coen; six grandchildren, Gage, Shelby, Lexi, Rayce, Laci, and Payson; two great grandchildren, Haxton and Cohlson; brothers, Dennis Coen and Larry (Sandy) Coen; many other relatives and a host of friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Delbert and Vaunee Coen; and sisters-in-law, Pam Coen and Denise Coen.
