La Junta Police Arrest Driver After High-Speed Eluding Crash on Jan 23
On 1-23-2026 Officers with the La Junta Police Department attempted to stop a black 2006 Chevrolet Impala. The black 2006 Chevrolet Impala did not stop for Officer’s emergency lamps or sirens. The black 2006 Chevrolet ran through three different stop signs at a very high rate of speed. The black 2006 Chevrolet traveled South, through the intersection of 14th St. and Grace Ave. After going through the intersection, the driver lost control and slid sideways, colliding with a parked vehicle, and going into a yard, and came to rest on a fence.
The driver and sole occupant of the black 2006 Chevrolet was identified as Shante Eck. Mrs. Eck had an outstanding misdemeanor warrant for failure to appear on the charge of unlawful possession of a controlled substance. Mrs. Eck was transported to the Arkansas Valley Regional Medical Center by ambulance. Because of injuries that Mrs. Eck sustained she was released to medical personnel.
Mrs. Eck will be facing the following charges:
Felony Eluding, C.R.S. 18-9-116.5 Class 5 Felony
Resisting Arrest, C.R.S. 18-8-103 Class 2 Misdemeanor
Reckless Driving, C.R.S. 18-4-1401 Class 2 Misdemeanor
Drove Vehicle When License Under Restraint (Cancel/denied), C.R.S. 42-2-138
Drove Motor Vehicle Without Valid Insurance, C.R.S. 42-4-1409
All Parties Considered Innocent Until Proven Guilty in a Court of Law.
