Four Arrested in Burglary of Former School Building in Boone, CO
Pueblo, CO: Pueblo County Sheriff's deputies arrested four men last week after deputies interrupted a burglary in progress at a former middle school in Boone, where it was discovered that there was almost $1 million in damages and losses to the building.
Deputies responded to the former Excelsior Middle School, 1516 Asbury Lane, at approximately 4 a.m. Thursday, January 15, after a maintenance supervisor reported seeing on a security camera that there were several people in the building.
Deputies quickly arrived and saw a vehicle parked at the building, prompting deputies to set up a perimeter around the building. A deputy saw a man, later identified as Richard Luther, 60, run and hide behind a bin. Deputies contacted Luther, who said he was alone at the building, and immediately took him into custody.
Deputies saw two men starting to walk out of the building but quickly retreated inside. Deputies issued several verbal commands for the men, later identified as Tylor Lovell, 31, and Ezequiel Baca, 35, to exit the building. Lovell and Baca complied and were taken into custody without incident.
Deputies saw another man on the roof of the building. Deputies gained access to the roof and located the suspect, identified as Anthony Nagy, 59. Nagy was taken into custody.
Deputies, along with a building supervisor, searched the building and found extensive damage to computers, the ceiling, plumbing, and wiring. Thousands of dollars in copper piping had also been removed. The damage and property lost were estimated at approximately $900,000.

Luther, Lovell, Baca and Nagy were each arrested for second-degree burglary, possession of burglary tools, criminal mischief and criminal attempt. They were booked into the Pueblo County Jail.

"I'm grateful for the deputies' quick response and thorough work. Their actions allowed us to catch these individuals in the act and prevent even more damage and loss to the building," said Pueblo County Sheriff David J. Lucero.
All Parties Considered Innocent Until Proven Guilty in a Court of Law.
