Obituary

Dorothy “Dottie” Bryan 93 passed away January 15, 2026 in Yukon, OK. Dottie was born March 1, 1932, in Villegreen, CO to Enos and Bertie (Frecka) White. Her siblings were Opal Francis (White) Davis, Delita Lee (White) Fleischacker, Betty Joyce (White) Johnson, and stillborn brother, Billy Andrew White.

Dottie and her family moved to La Junta in time for her to attend La Junta Public Schools for 1st grade through high school. Upon graduation, she enrolled at Bethany Peniel College. There, she met, and married the love of her life, Robert G. Bryan, on August 11, 1953.

In 1956, daughter Robyn was born, and Stephanie joined the family 13 months later. The family moved to Rocky Ford to a farm owned by Dottie’s parents. Son, David, was born while the family was living on the farm and, 12 months later, Mark was born. The family quickly outgrew the 28-ft. trailer home at the farm. They decided to buy a lot and Bob started building the house where the family lived from 1962 to April 2023 when Bob passed away.

Dottie was a dedicated teacher who loved her students! She started her career, teaching high school home economics in Cheraw Schools in 1962. A few years later, she moved to teach in La Junta Public Schools. In her 28-year teaching career, she also taught junior high science, remedial reading, 6th grade, kindergarten, and finally ended her career teaching 2nd grade. She always enjoyed hearing from her students.

A great passion of Dottie’s was to cook and feed a multitude of people. It gave her great joy to share food and fellowship with others around her table.

Dottie and Bob were active members of the La Junta Church of the Nazarene. Dottie attended church there from her youth. She was saved at age 13. She was still concerned about the salvation of her family and friends and expressed it on the last day we got to hear her speak. Psalm 23 was her favorite passage of scripture.

Dottie is survived by her 4 adult children and their spouses, 9 grandchildren and spouses, and 13+ great-grandchildren. (One more is on the way!). She is preceded in death by her husband, Bob.
