Two People Killed in Explosion in Rural Eastern Pueblo County

Pueblo, CO - Two people were killed in an explosion at a house in rural Eastern Pueblo County on Thursday afternoon.

The two individuals, an adult male and adult female, were at the home near 57th Lane and Cherry Road in Boone when there was an explosion at the residence. When first responders arrived, they found the home fully engulfed in fire.

Firefighters were able to get the fire under control quickly and learned that two people had been at the home and were unaccounted for. After putting the fire out, responders located one of the deceased individuals. The second individual was located this morning.

The Pueblo County Coroner's Office will release the names of the deceased and the manner and cause of death at the appropriate time.

The investigation into the cause of the explosion continues. Investigators from the Colorado Division of Fire Prevention and Control and the Pueblo County Sheriff's Office are investigating the incident.

A preliminary investigation indicates it was an accidental explosion.

No further information will be released at this time.
