Joint Operation Leads to Arrest of Wanted Felony Suspect in Rio Grande County

On Tuesday, November 25, 2025, the Alamosa County Sheriff’s Office U.S. Marshals Task Force Officers, the Alamosa Police Department U. S. Marshals Task Force Officers, and the U.S. Marshals Service Southern Colorado Violent Offender Task Force conducted a coordinated operation that resulted in the arrest of William Redden, a 33-year-old male wanted on charges of Felony Stalking/Threats Against Court Personnel.

During the attempted apprehension at Redden’s residence in Rio Grande County, located just northwest of the City of Monte Vista, Redden presented a handgun upon contact with law enforcement. Shots were fired by Redden and he subsequently barricaded himself inside the residence. A standoff lasting approximately 40 minutes ensued.

Redden ultimately surrendered peacefully and was taken into custody without further incident.

He was transported to the Alamosa County Detention Center, where he is being held on a combined $90,000 bond for the original felony stalking warrant as well as three counts of First Degree Assault on a Peace Officer.

The Alamosa County Sheriff’s Office would like to thank the Alamosa Police Department, the U.S. Marshals Service, Rio Grande County Sheriff’s Office, Colorado State Patrol, Monte Vista Police Department and all assisting agencies for their coordination and professionalism in safely resolving this incident.
