Morning Fatal Crash Results in Road Closure
Interstate 70 closed for investigation
(Summit County, COLO) – On October 12, 2025, at approximately 5:42 a.m., the Colorado State Patrol responded to a fatal crash in Summit County involving a single vehicle, a semi on Interstate 70 milepost 208 westbound.
Initial reports indicate that the semi with a trailer, went off the right side of the road, crashed and caught on fire. All occupants of the semi were pronounced dead on the scene. Due to the extensive damage and fire to this vehicle, first responders are unable to confirm the number of occupants at this time.
Currently, Westbound travel on Interstate 70 is closed as the investigation continues. Travelers in the area should anticipate an extended closure. Presently, there is no time frame for the road to reopen. Check Cotrip.org for the latest road opening status.
