Obituary
Arling “A. T.”, “Fish” Austin, Jr. of Rocky Ford passed away on October 8, 2025 at the age of 86 in Ordway. A. T. was born in Pedernal, New Mexico to Arling and Verlina Austin. He graduated from high school in Estancia, New Mexico. After high school he went to college. He quit college after his father got sick so he could help on the farm. He married Norma before being drafted into the Army and serving in the 497th Combat Engineers. He was a rancher in New Mexico. College was important to him and he urged his children to further their educations. He was a Mason. A. T. liked to play video games, as well as going fishing, hunting and water skiing.
A. T. is survived by his 3 children: Navata (Mike) Stanton of Pratt, KS, Lanita (Jared) Hollis of La Junta, Travis (Jennifer) Austin of Rocky Ford, 7 grandchildren, 2 cats, and his sister: Leola Neill. He was preceded in death his wife Norma and grandson Elijah Austin, sisters: Marcella Nadine Atencio, Anita Rozzi, Donella Austin.
Private services will be held at a later date. The family will scatter his ashes along with those of his grandson in the mountains of New Mexico.
