Bent County Sheriff Reports on Las Animas Structure Fire
On Wednesday, September 10, 2025, at approximately 2:20 a.m., a structure fire was reported in the 300 block of Vine. Deputies arrived within four minutes to find the residence fully engulfed; the roof collapsed moments after their arrival.
The Las Animas Fire Department quickly responded, protected nearby structures, and brought the fire under control within minutes. Due to the roof collapse and structural instability, the home could not be safely entered. For public safety, the Las Animas Fire Department utilized heavy equipment to push the remaining portions of the residence into the center of the structure.
This same residence was previously involved in a structure fire last year. The cause of the current fire is under investigation by the Bent County Sheriff’s Office.
