Obituary
Maxine Adcock was born on May 3, 1939, and passed away on August 10, 2025. Born in Fowler Colorado to James and Nellie McCuistion. Maxine graduated from Fowler High School and went on to Otero Junior College where she met her future husband, Larry Adcock. They were married in 1960 and would have celebrated 65 years of marriage in November. After a few years of marriage, they settled down and made their home on the Adcock Farm north of Swink, where they raised their children, Gregg and Lynette. Maxine was a devout Christian and active member of the La Junta United Methodist Church for over 60 years. She held many titles homemaker, seamstress, bookkeeper, farmhand and anything else that needed her attention. In her later years she enjoyed substitute teaching at Swink Schools. She was “Mom” to so many.
Maxine is survived by her spouse, Larry Adcock, children, Gregg (Jefferi) Adcock of Manvel Texas, and Lynette (Roger) Masters of Rye, Colorado; grandchildren, Jacob (Thien) Barr of Norfolk, VA, Wesley (Bethany) Barr of Fountaintown, IN, Melissa (Chris) England of Swink, CO, and Tori Schlueter of Manvel, TX; great-grandchildren, Greyson and Oaklee Barr of IN; sisters, Dorothy Baker of Fowler, CO and Verena Rogge of Littleton, CO; sister-in-laws, Marybeth McCuistion and Fran McCuistion; and numerous nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents, James and Nellie McCuistion, in-laws, LC and Helen Adcock, brothers, JH and Willis McCuistion, sisters, Marie Tilson and Jean Petrie, sister-in-law, Barbara Pointer, brothers-in-law, Tom Marvin, Bill Tilson, Roby Baker, Chet Petrie and Don Rogge.
Memorial service will take place Saturday, August 16 at 11:00 am at La Junta United Methodist Church.
