Multi-Agency Investigation Leads to Recovery of Multiple Stolen Vehicles in Otero County

On July 30, 2025, Detective Duran of the Otero County Sheriff’s Office responded to a report of trespassing near County Road 19.5 and Highway 10. During the investigation, Detective Duran developed critical leads related to a stolen vehicle and obtained images of suspects tied to ongoing property crimes.

Thanks to Detective Duran’s swift and thorough work, this information was shared with neighboring law enforcement agencies. Shortly thereafter, Sergeant Moore of the La Junta Police Department located the suspect vehicle and initiated a traffic stop. Otero County Deputies responded to assist, and additional evidence was gathered linking the occupants and the vehicle to the original theft case. Investigative efforts also led to the identification of a potential location for an additional stolen trailer.

At approximately 3:00 a.m., a coordinated operation involving the Otero County Sheriff’s Office and La Junta Police Department was conducted at a property in the 22,000 block of Highway 109. Officers recovered three stolen vehicles during the search. Later, Chief Wallace of the Rocky Ford Police Department located and recovered the stolen trailer in the Rocky Ford area. One suspect was arrested and booked into the Otero County Detention Facility on multiple charges as a result of this multi-agency operation.

This successful outcome highlights the exceptional teamwork and communication between the Otero County Sheriff’s Office, La Junta Police Department, and Rocky Ford Police Department. The rapid identification and recovery of stolen property were made possible by the dedication and professionalism of all personnel involved.
