Amy White-Tanabe Announces Departure as Otero County Administrator

La Junta, CO | July 31, 2025 – Otero County Administrator Amy White-Tanabe has announced her resignation, effective September 5, 2025. She has served in the role since 2019.

During her tenure, White-Tanabe led the county through significant initiatives that improved public infrastructure, expanded intergovernmental partnerships, and strengthened internal operations.

Her leadership played a key role in securing and managing grant-funded projects, launching a countywide staff development program, and completing major capital improvements, including the new detention facility.

“Serving Otero County has been an incredible honor,” said White-Tanabe. “This is my home and the place where I’ve had the privilege of working alongside dedicated staff, elected officials, and community partners to make lasting improvements. I’m proud of what we’ve accomplished together.”

White-Tanabe has accepted a new position as Southeast Regional Manager with the Colorado Department of Local Affairs. In this role, she will continue supporting local governments across the region. She will remain based in Rocky Ford and begin her new role in September.

A transition plan is under development, and the Board of County Commissioners will provide additional updates in the coming weeks.
