Driver Rescued After Car Crashes Into Canal Near Cheraw

At approx 443pm today we responded to a reported traffic accident with a car in a canal at Rd 30 and Rd 808 by Cheraw.

While enroute we were advised a party was on top of the car in the canal.

Upon arrival a male party had jumped to the edge of the canal and informed us that nobody else was in the vehicle with him.

Looked as if the driver lost control of the car which almost struck a second vehicle.

There was significant damage to a head gate that diverts water for a few farmers.

The scene was turned over to law enforcement.
