La Junta Police Arrest Sidney Kennedy on Drug and Weapons Charges After Early Morning Traffic Stop

On July 2nd, 2025, around 6:30 AM, an officer with the La Junta Police Department contacted a vehicle that had several occupants. The driver, 38-year-old Sidney Kennedy, was taken into custody on several outstanding warrants.

Officers also located fentanyl and methamphetamine, along with multiple handguns. Later, officers executed a search warrant at Kennedy’s house, stemming from information gathered during the investigation.

Additional controlled substances and multiple firearms were found at Kennedy’s residence. Kennedy was charged with Unlawful Distribution of a Controlled Substance, Special Offender, crime of violation of a protection order, theft, driving a motor vehicle when license suspended, as well as several other charges.
