Busy Fourth of July for Cañon City Firefighters: Multiple Fires, No Injuries Reported

Independence Day 2025 was a busy day for Cañon City firefighters.

Fire crews responded to a 3/4 acre wild-land fire near the Dinosaur Flatts shooting range with the assistance of BLM and the US Forest Service, an additional wild-land fire on Skyline Drive during the community display, an unrelated structure fire in the 1000 block of Indiana Ave resulting in moderate damage to a detached garage, a separate incident involving a fully involved fifth wheel camping trailer, and numerous routine calls for service.

No injuries were reported and the cause of the structure and fifth wheel fires remain under investigation.

Thank you to all the dedicated men and women who dedicated their Independence Day holiday to protect our community!  Thank you.
