MEMORIAL DAY CEREMONIES PLANNED FOR LAS ANIMAS AND FORT LYON NATIONAL CEMETERY

Memorial Day ceremonies will be held at Las Animas Cemetery at 9:00 a.m. and Fort Lyon National Cemetery at 11:00 a.m. on Monday, May 26th. The events this year will focus on the forty-one Bent County veterans who were either killed in action or are missing in action.

Guest speaker Larry Garner of Hooper, Colorado will share information about his uncles who served during World War II. Three of the four Garner brothers who served lost their lives while defending their country. Larry, a navy veteran himself, never met his uncles but is honored to share their stories.

The program will be presented by VFW Post #2411 and auxiliary members with representation from Pikes Peak National Cemetery. A display will be available with information about the forty-one Bent County veterans who paid the ultimate price to protect our freedoms. Please join us as we remember all fallen veterans and honor them with the respect they deserve.
