Otero College Community Choir Present A Celebration of Love Songs

The Otero College Community Choir is proud to present “A Celebration of Love Songs”. The concert of love songs old and new will be performed on Monday, May 5, at Otero College’s Humanities Center. 7:00 pm. Admission is free.

Music expresses feeling, and what feeling is stronger and more beautiful than love in all of its many forms? Or perhaps it’s not so beautiful when love is unreturned or lost. Regardless of the kind of love, or of its success or failure, songs have been written over centuries to capture each nuance that love presents to us. The OC Choir will sing of the thrill of new romantic love (Blake Shelton’s “God Gave Me You”), love expressed in friendships (“I’d Do Anything” from Broadway’s Oliver), tipsy love (“If I Were a Bell” from Broadway’s Guys and Dolls), parted love (a folk song, “The Turtle Dove”), love in families (Bill Monroe’s “Y’all Come”), yearning and searching love (“Somewhere Out There” from An American Tail), and even love for humanity (“We Toast the Days”). You are cordially invited to this special event.

Dean Rees directs. Mary Belew accompanies. Special performers are Jordan Borrego (drums), Al Guadagnoli (bass), Randy Daniher (flute), and Jessica Bay (viola); solos will be sung by Randy Daniher, Heather Pidcock-Reed, Kate Pruyn, and Mike Shima.
