La Junta Police Report Arrest After Hwy 50 Chase

 

On April 1st, 2025 at about 2:04 PM, an officer with the La Junta Police Department in La Junta, CO was on routine patrol in the 1000 block of Bradish Ave.

 

A vehicle exited a driveway, nearly striking the officer's patrol car. The officer attempted to initiate a traffic stop when the vehicle failed to stop and began to flee.

 

Officers pursued the vehicle and it eventually fled on US Highway 50 toward Las Animas, CO.

 

With the help of the Otero County Sheriff's Office and Bent County Sheriff's Office, the driver, 38-year-old Sidney Kennedy was taken into custody just outside of Las Animas.

Kennedy was charged with Vehicular Eluding, Unlawful Possession of a Controlled Substance, Obstructing a Peace Officer, Resisting Arrest, Driving a vehicle when his driver's license is suspended, Displaying Fictitious Plates, and Reckless Driving.
