Obituary

A Memorial Service for Cope Garrison will be held at 11:00 a.m., Tuesday, March 25, 2025 at John Rawlings Heritage Center and Museum Grand Ballroom in Las Animas, Colorado with Pastor Rod Coulter officiating.  Per Cope’s request, cremation has taken place and there will be no visitation.

Cope Nevada Garrison passed away on March 9, 2025 at his home in Pueblo, Colorado at the age of 47.  He was born on January 17, 1978 in Paris, Texas to LaVonne (Tomlin) Garrison. 

Cope grew up in Las Animas and attended Las Animas Schools.  Throughout high school he was active in football, wrestling, and baseball.  After graduating in 1996, Cope furthered his education at CSU-Pueblo.  It was during this time that he developed an admiration for golf and began working at the Pueblo Country Club.  He appreciated all aspects of golf, especially taking care of the course and assisting golfers.  As a Master Caddie, Cope was able to fulfill his love for the sport daily, could meet new people, and develop lasting friendships. Cope loved the staff at PCC and considered them as his family.

Cope is survived by his mother, LaVonne Garrison of Las Animas, Colorado; aunts, Vickie (Neil) Briggs, Susan (Jerry) Miller, Vivid Tomlin, Brenda Whattler, and Carol Tomlin; great uncle, Buck (Pam) Barnes; great aunt, Mary Ellen Schneider; numerous cousins and a host of friends.

He was preceded in death by his grandparents, Harold Faye and Olive Ruby Tomlin; uncles, Leldon Tomlin, Harold Tomlin, and Randy Whattler; aunts, Shirley Copeland, Patricia Tomlin, and Kathleen Tomlin.
