08:48 Baca County Dispatch received a report of Trespassing in the 26000 block of CR 12.3 in Pritchett. The reporting party asked to talk to a deputy about a person that they wanted Trespassed off of their property. The on-duty deputy responded and took a report from the caller.
10:29 A Deputy took a report of Criminal Mischief in the 100 block of North Indiana Street in Walsh. The reporting party had someone break the windshield in their vehicle. This case remains under investigation.
17:53 Two Springfield PD officers and a Deputy responded to a security alarm in the 700 block of Hill Street in Springfield. Officers determined that the building was secure and it was a false alarm.
20:21 A Deputy conducted a traffic stop on Hwy 287 at MM26 for a semi-truck with no taillights. The Semi-driver was able to correct the issue and was given a verbal warning for the violation.
21:41 The on-duty Deputy responded to Walsh for a report of aggressive dogs in the area of 500 block of Illinois Street. The Deputy located an owner for the dogs and they began looking for the dogs in question. Neither the owner nor the Deputy, were able to locate the dogs. This case remains under investigation.
21:58 While looking for the dogs mentioned in the previous call, the deputy was notified of a suspicious vehicle in the area of South Illinois Street in Walsh. The Deputy made contact with the vehicle and determined that they were helping the owners of the dogs look for them and that’s why they were shinning lights in the area.
23:58 A Deputy provided back-up to a Springfield PD Officer that responded to a report of Sexual Assault in Springfield. This case remains under investigation by Springfield PD.

10:03 Baca County Dispatch received a report of an erratic driver on Hwy 287 south of Springfield. The on-duty Deputy made contact with the suspect vehicle at MM18 on Hwy 287. The driver was given a verbal warning for the complaint.
10:40 The on-duty Deputy conducted a motorist assist on Hwy 287 north of Springfield. The semi-truck had two blown tires and had called for roadside assistance.
11:15 Baca County Dispatch received a traffic complaint on Hwy 287 at MM46 north of Springfield. The on-duty Deputy responded to the area but was unable to locate the vehicle in question.
11:59 A Deputy, along with Fire and EMS, responded to a grass fire in the 28000 block of CR 24.6 near Springfield. It was determined that the fire was a controlled burn that was not properly reported. The Deputy gave the owners a verbal warning for failure to notify the Sheriff’s Office of the control burn. No charges filed.
14:33 Fire, EMS, and a Deputy responded to a Grass Fire along Hwy 160 between Pritchett and Springfield. The fire units extinguished the fire quickly. The cause of the fire remains under investigation.
15:31 The on-duty Deputy responded to a report of Harassment in the 200 block of Tipton Street in Springfield. This call stemmed from a previous incident which occurred outside of Springfield. The Deputy took a report from the reporting party. This case remains under investigation.
19:46 The Undersheriff conducted an agency assist for the Springfield PD concerning a juvenile fight which occurred a couple of days prior at the Springfield Truck Stop. The Undersheriff and a Springfield PD Officer conducted several interviews around the county in reference to the fight. The Springfield Police Department is handling the investigation.
23:02 Baca County Dispatch received a report of a disabled vehicle on Hwy 287 at MM43 north of Springfield. The on-duty Deputy responded to the area but was unable to locate the vehicle in question.

10:26 The Sheriff and Undersheriff responded to a family fight in progress in the 24000 block of CR 39.4. After talking with several family members it was determined that one of the family members had committed the crime of Criminal Mischief. The suspect was eventually located and was given a summons for the violation in Baca County Court.
15:27 The Undersheriff arrested a female party in the 200 block of East 2nd Ave in Springfield on an outstanding arrest warrant out of Baca County for Criminal Mischief and Domestic Violence.
15:35 The Undersheriff arrested a male party in the 200 block of East 2nd Ave in Springfield on a warrant out of Prowers County for Failure to Appear.
15:45 The on-duty Deputy conducted a motorist assist on CR 44 and CR M. The semi-truck had a blown front tire and was waiting on roadside assistance.

09:22 The Sheriff transported a male inmate to Prowers County Jail from the Baca County Jail.
16:15 A Deputy attempted to serve civil papers in the 28000 block of CR 22.
18:09 The on-duty Deputy conducted a walkthrough of the basketball games at the Springfield High School.
19:30 Baca County Dispatch assisted the courts with entering a warrant out of Baca County Courts into the Colorado Crime Information Computer system (CCIC).

08:43 A Deputy completed a VIN Inspection in the 27000 block of CR 55.
09:22 The Undersheriff served a civil paper in the 20000 block of CR 39.
10:30 The Undersheriff attempted to serve a civil paper in the 600 block of 4th Street in Two Buttes.
10:31 The Sheriff and Undersheriff provided backup for a Springfield PD Officer that was responding to an assault in the 200 block of East 8th Ave in Springfield. Officers determined that a violation of a protection order had occurred and applied for an arrest warrant for the suspect who had left the scene prior to law enforcement arrival. Springfield PD is handling the investigation.
10:49 The Sheriff arrested a male party in the 300 block of East 8th Ave in Springfield on a felony warrant out of Baca County District Court for failure to appear. The subject was also the suspect in the previous call for service and was booked the next day on the new arrest warrant obtained by the Springfield Police Department for Violation of a Protection Order and Domestic Violence.
17:32 Baca County Dispatch received a report of a Semi-truck dragging a piece of metal from its trailer on Hwy 287 at MM 30. The deputy was able to catch up to the semi and conducted a traffic stop. The driver fixed the issue and was given a verbal warning for the violation.
20:15 The on-duty Deputy responded to a report of someone attempting to steal a street sign in the 100 block of North Ohio Street in Walsh. The Deputy talked with the reporting party who stated that they saw someone attempting to remove a street sign from a post in the area. The person ran off to the north. A Walsh Street Department worker was notified and removed the sign from the post until they could deal with the issue. This case remains under investigation.

07:56 Baca County Dispatch received a report of a semi-truck in the ditch in the 44000 block of CR M south of Walsh. A citizen stopped and determined that the vehicle needed roadside assistance and was not involved in an accident. The Undersheriff responded to the area but the vehicle was no longer present.
08:44 Baca County Dispatch assisted the courts with entering a warrant out of Baca County Court into CCIC.
11:57 The Undersheriff served a civil paper in the 800 block of Bonair Street in Springfield.
15:14 The on-duty Deputy conducted a traffic stop on Hwy 160 and CR 42. The driver was given a verbal warning for speeding.
17:37 Baca County Dispatch received a call from BNSF Railroad crew working on the Springfield Crossing. A semi- truck had not stopped at the crossing when the crossing arms were coming down and the light was flashing. Truck did not hit the arms. The deputy was unable to locate the vehicle in question.
20:35 A Deputy conducted a traffic stop north of Springfield on Hwy 287. The driver was cited for speeding 39mph in a posted 30 mph zone.

05:33 A Deputy responded to a traffic hazard on Hwy 287 at MM 5 for semi-truck experiencing mechanical problems. The Deputy provided traffic control while cattle were unloaded from one semi to another.
12:34 Fire, EMS, Colorado State Patrol, and two Baca County Deputies responded to a semi-truck rollover on CR 45 and CR C.2. The semi was hauling cattle and the cattle had to be off loaded at the scene. Colorado State Patrol in handling the accident investigation.
16:29 A Deputy took a report of Suspicious Activity in the 13000 block of CR AA. This case remains under investigation.

09:01 Fire, EMS, Springfield PD, and a Deputy responded to a grass fire in the 28000 block of CR 26 near Springfield. The fire units quickly located and extinguished the fire which was contained in a shed in the backyard. The fire was thought to be caused by a faulty space heater. No charges filed.
12:20 The on-duty Deputy conducted a traffic stop on Hwy 287 at MM 36 for speeding. The driver was issued a citation for speeding 79 mph in a posted 65 mph zone.
12:43 A Deputy provided backup to a Springfield PD Officer that responded to a report of a disturbance involving a handgun in the 200 block of West 4th Ave in Springfield. The officers searched the area and talked to several people in the area but were unable to locate anyone with a firearm. The units increased patrols in the area throughout the day and night. This case remains under investigation by SPD.
13:52 The Deputy and a Springfield PD Officer completed a walkthrough of the Basketball games in Springfield.
14:28 Two Deputies stood by at the Basketball Games in Vilas after a concerned citizen requested extra patrol due to crowd problems being reported during the last basketball game between the two teams.

13:10 A Deputy and a Springfield PD Officer responded to a report of an assault in the 400 block of Main Street in Springfield. The victim of the assault refused to press charges. No charges filed.
16:16 The on-duty Deputy conducted a motorist assist on Hwy 287 at MM 29 south of Springfield. The driver stated that they had run out gas. The driver was able to retrieve some gas and the vehicle was moved.

08:47 The Undersheriff took a report of Fraud in the 100 block of West Maplewood in Walsh. The victim was asked to fill out a detailed statement form and return it to the Sheriff’s Office. This case remains under investigation.
09:46 The Sheriff and Detention Deputies transported a male inmate to court.
18:50 The Undersheriff took a report of Trespassing in the 31000 block of CR C near Campo. The reporting party asked to have the suspect served with a No Trespass Warning. The Undersheriff contacted the suspect the next day and served them with the warning.

16:28 The Undersheriff served a civil paper in the 400 block of East 8th Ave in Springfield.
22:13 A Deputy responded to the 24000 block of CR 39.4 for unknown disturbance. The Deputy determined that there had been a verbal argument between family members and no crime had been committed. No charges filed.
23:30 Baca County Dispatch received a 911 call about a stranded motorist on Hwy 287 and CR PP north of Springfield. The Deputy located the vehicle and the occupants. The vehicle was an RV and was off the roadway and the occupants did not need further assistance.

07:27 The Undersheriff and a Springfield PD Officer responded to a stranded Semi-truck in the intersection of Hwy 287 and Hwy 160. The semi-truck’s trailer brakes had frozen up and it was unable to move. The vehicle was eventually moved to the Springfield Truck Stop. No charges filed.
14:40 A Deputy completed a VIN Inspection in the 23000 block of CR 42 near Walsh.
23:37 A Deputy provided back up to a Springfield PD Officer that responded to a security alarm in the 1300 block of Main Street in Springfield. The building found to be secure and the key holder was notified.

11:50 A Deputy completed a VIN Inspection in the 100 block of West 1st Street in Campo.
12:04 The Sheriff and the on-duty Deputy responded to a report of a heavily intoxicated person in Walsh. It was determined that the person was intoxicated to the point where they were a danger to themselves and others. The Sheriff transported the male party to RASADA in Las Animas for Detox. No charges filed.
15:38 Two Deputies responded to report of a Semi-truck with smoking tire northbound on Hwy 287 at MM25. The Deputies checked the highway from MM 25 to the Prowers County Line but were unable to locate the vehicle in question.
17:15 A Deputy completed a walkthrough of the High School Basketball games in Campo.
19:49 The on-duty Deputy received a request for a civil standby in the 200 block of North Kansas in Walsh. When the Deputy arrived the party stated that they no longer needed the standby.
21:16 A Springfield PD Officer and Deputy responded to a security alarm in the 100 block of West 5th Avenue in Springfield. The officers cleared the building and found no one inside nor signs of forced entry.

07:31 A Deputy responded to a report of trespassing in the 400 block of Monroe Street in Pritchett. The Deputy talked with the owner, who stated that the trespass occurred the evening before and provided a description of the vehicle involved. The owner stated that nothing was missing from their property. The Deputy looked around Pritchett but was unable to locate a vehicle matching that description. This case remains under investigation.
09:00 The on-duty Deputy and two Springfield PD Officers completed a civil standby and funeral escort in the 400 block of Pinion Street in Springfield.
10:23 Fire, EMS, Colorado State Patrol, and a BCSO Deputy responded to a two vehicle non-injury accident on Hwy 287 at MM 12 south of Springfield. It was determined that one semi-truck had blown a tire and the tire struck another truck travelling the opposite direction causing minor damage. Colorado State Patrol is handling the investigation.
12:15 A Deputy took a report of illegal drugs found abandoned at a business in the 500 block of North Colorado Street in Walsh. The Deputy was unable to determine how long the bag containing the small amount of drugs had been on the property or who had left it there. The Deputy seized the bag and the drugs as evidence. This case remains under investigation.
15:32 Baca County Dispatch received a report of suspicious activity in the 100 block of East Maplewood Street in Walsh. The Deputy responded and talk with the reporting party, who stated that an unknown person had been seen standing in her family members yard for about 15 minute staring at their house. They reporting party said that the person moved to the yard across the street and continued watching the house. The Deputy contacted the person in question and determined that they had just moved into town and had a hearing disability. The person was trying to get cell service to send a text message and was unaware that they were causing a problem and agreed to stop. No charges filed.
17:28 Baca County Dispatch assisted the Baca County Courts with entering a local arrest warrant into the NCIC/CCIC computers.

11:14 A Deputy conducted a traffic stop on Hwy 287 at MM 26 south of Springfield. The driver was given a verbal warning for speeding.
13:36 A Springfield PD Officer and the on-duty Deputy responded to a disturbance in the 200 block of East 10th Avenue in Springfield. Once on scene, the officers talked with both parties and some witnesses to the incident. After careful consideration, the female party was arrested by the Springfield PD Officer for Harassment and Domestic Violence, and was transported to the Baca County Jail.
14:40 The Deputy that responded to the above call to back up the SPD Officer discovered that a male party on scene had an active arrest warrant out of Baca County. The Deputy arrested the male party on the warrant and transported him to the Baca County Jail.
18:08 Baca County Dispatch received a report of a stranded semi-truck in the ditch on Hwy 287 at MM 20 North of Campo. The Deputy located the vehicle and spoke with the driver. The vehicle was experiencing electrical problems but the driver was able to make some repairs and was able to continue on to Boise City.
19:25 A Deputy took a report of a stolen vehicle in the 15000 block of CR 10 South of Pritchett. The Deputy responded to the location of the theft and determined the vehicle was not stolen and was located on the property.

15:33 Baca County Dispatch received a report of abandoned vehicle on CR 37 and CR KK. The reporting party said that the vehicle had been at that location for two days. A Deputy responded to that location and ran several checks which showed that the vehicle was not reported stolen. The vehicle was tagged with a 48 hour removal notice.
16:13 A Springfield PD Officer and Deputy conducted a welfare check after Baca County Dispatch received a 911 hang up call from the 200 block of East 8th Avenue in Springfield. Dispatch received a 911 call where they heard someone say “Help Me” and then the call disconnected. Dispatch was unable to make contact with the caller again, so Officers were dispatched to that location. It was determined that a minor child was playing a game on a cell phone and the game was saying “Help Me”, and the child somehow dialed 911. No charges filed.
20:07 Baca County Dispatch took a report of stolen vehicle and a custody dispute from an individual living in Prowers County. The caller stated that the stolen vehicle and the minor children could be in Baca County. After talking with the reporting party, the on-duty Deputy determined that the incident was a civil dispute and that no crime had been committed. The reporting party was told to report the incident to Prowers County authorities and we would assist them as needed.

15:23 The Sheriff responded to a report of a horse at-large on Hwy 160 near Springfield. The owner was contacted and the horse was returned to its own pasture.
19:13 Baca County Dispatch received a traffic complaint of an aggressive driver on Hwy 287 south of Springfield. The Deputy responded to the area but was unable to locate the suspect vehicle.

20:45 The on-duty Deputy responded to a report of an abandoned vehicle on Hwy 160 at MM 476 near Vilas. The Deputy searched the area but was unable to locate any abandoned vehicles.
02/19/25
07:27 Fire, EMS, Colorado State Patrol, CDOT, and the Sheriff and Undersheriff responded to a two semi-truck head on collision on Hwy 287 at MM 43. All drivers and occupants walked away from the accident with only minor injuries. Emergency crews, Tow Truck drivers, CDOT, and Law Enforcement remained on scene for several hours until the accident could be cleared from the roadway. Colorado State Patrol is handling the investigation.
10:25 The Undersheriff took a report of suspicious items being found in Campo at a private residence. The Undersheriff travelled to the location later that afternoon and retrieved the items that were not illegal or criminal in nature. The items were later disposed of in accordance with state law.
11:48 The Sheriff and Undersheriff took a report of a violation of a custody order in Walsh. After talking with all parties involved, one of the parties decided to return the children in accordance with the custody order. No charges filed.
15:04 The Undersheriff conducted a traffic stop on a semi-truck in the 100 block of Main Street in Campo. The driver was given a verbal warning for speeding.

10:20 Baca County Dispatch received a report of a transient walking on Hwy 160 east of Walsh. The Undersheriff responded to the area and searched from Walsh to the Kansas State line but was unable to locate anyone walking along the highway.
11:09 The Undersheriff responded to two stranded semi-trucks on Hwy 160 at MM 460. One of the semi-trucks was experiencing mechanical trouble. The driver was able to get the repairs completed and the highway was cleared.
14:43 Baca County Dispatch and a Detention Deputy completed a Sex Offender Registration at the Sheriff’s Office.
15:07 The Undersheriff and a Deputy responded to a report of an indecent image of a minor in Walsh. The officers were able to contact the reporting party and the person that allegedly showed them the image. All parties in the image were proven to be consenting adults. No charges filed.
17:38 The on-duty Deputy was dispatched to a report of vandalism to a vehicle at the Campo School. The Depuity contacted the owner of the vehicle. The owner and the Deputy determined that the damage was most likely weather related and not vandalism. No charges filed.

06:58 Baca County Dispatch received a report of a male party acting erratically in the 400 block of Main Street in Campo. A Deputy responded to the area but was unable to locate anyone matching that description in that area.
12:28 Baca County Dispatch received a private party report of a stolen vehicle from the state of Virginia on Hwy 287 in Baca County. The deputy responded to the area but was unable to locate the vehicle in question. Upon further investigation, the Deputy determined that the vehicle had not been reported stolen out Virginia, and the incident was most likely a civil dispute. No charges filed.
14:34 The on-duty Deputy took a report of a Dog running at large in the 300 block of North Alaska Street in Walsh. The deputy responded to the area and was able to catch the dog. The dog was taken to the Walsh City Pound and the owner was notified. The owner retrieved the dog from the pound and was issued a citation for dog running at large.
16:43 A Deputy conducted a traffic stop in the 42000 block of Hwy 160 near Walsh. The driver was given a verbal warning for speeding.
16:47 The on-duty Deputy conducted another traffic stop on Hwy 160 at MM 477 near Walsh. The driver was given a verbal warning for speeding.
1705 Baca County Dispatch received a report of an abandoned vehicle in the roadway on Hwy 160 at MM 460. A Deputy responded to the area and found the vehicle in question. An owner was notified and the vehicle was moved.
21:25 A Deputy conducted a traffic stop in the 700 block of Main Street in Springfield. The driver was given a verbal warning for defective equipment.

14:05 The on-duty Deputy responded to a report of a dog running at large on Main Street in Walsh. The Deputy was able to locate the dog and a member of the owner’s family since the owner was out of town. The dog was returned to its yard. The Deputy returned the next day issued the owner a citation for dog running at large.
18:25 Baca County Dispatch received a call about a suspicious vehicle in the 25000 block of CR CC near Pritchett. A Deputy responded to the area and was able to make contact with the vehicle in question. The driver had no criminal history and the Deputy had no probable cause of any criminal activity happening. The driver was released. This case remains under investigation.
18:35 The on-duty Deputy responded to a report of dogs running at large and harassment in the 500 block of North Illinois Street in Walsh. The reporting party stated that two dogs got into their yard and attacked her dog. They were able to locate the place where the two dogs belonged and the owner came out and was yelling at them. The Deputy provided both parties with statement forms to fill out. This case remains under investigation.

12:05 A Deputy responded to a report of a dirt bike driving recklessly in the 400 block of West 11th Avenue in Springfield. The Deputy was able to locate two dirt bikes outside of the city limits but determined that they were not responsible for the reckless driving incident. The Deputy was unable to the suspect dirt bike and rider.
13:18 Baca County Dispatch received a report of horses in the roadway on CR 10 South of Pritchett. The Owner was notified and the horses removed.
13:22 The on-duty Deputy provided cover for a Springfield PD Officer while the Officer conducted a consensual vehicle search on Hwy 287 at MM 31. No illegal contraband was located during the search.

09:44 The Sheriff and a Detention Deputy transported a male inmate to Baca County District Court for a hearing.
10:34 The Sheriff arrested a male subject at the courthouse in Springfield on an outstanding arrest warrant out of Kiowa County for failure to appear. The subject was transported to the Baca County Jail.
10:35 The Undersheriff responded to Walsh for a report of several dogs running at large. The Undersheriff was able to locate the owner of the dogs and the dogs were contained behind their fence. The owner was issued a citation for dogs running at large (5th offense).
12:33 The Sheriff took a report of a possible sexual assault south of Springfield. The case is under investigation.
13:19 The Sheriff and a Detention Deputy transported a male inmate to Baca County District Court for a hearing.
16:40 The Undersheriff conducted a traffic stop on Hwy 287 north of Springfield. The driver was given a verbal warning for speeding.
17:07 The Undersheriff responded to the north county line looking for a vehicle that was reported by Colorado State Patrol as driving recklessly in Prowers County. The Undersheriff was unable to locate a vehicle matching the description given.
17:29 A Deputy conducted a motorist assist on Hwy 287 at MM 42. The semi-truck driver had a faulty airline on his trailer and was making the necessary repairs.

12:03 The Undersheriff and Springfield PD Officer responded along with Fire and EMS units to a grass fire north of the Springfield Cemetery. The Fire unit quickly put the fire out and no structures were damaged during the incident.

17:10 Fire, EMS, and the on-duty Deputy responded to a tractor fire on CR X near Stonington. The tractor was a total loss and the fire was most likely due to an electrical issue. No charges filed.
18:52 A Deputy responded to a barking dog complaint in the 27000 block of CR 31. The Deputy advised the reporting parties that there were no laws against barking dogs in the county. The reporting parties did not want to take the complaint any further. No charges filed.
22:08 A Springfield PD Officer and a Deputy responded to a report of a broken water main on West 5th Avenue in Springfield. The officers found that the water tower at the city park was overflowing and a Springfield Water Department worker was called to handle the issue.

08:29 Baca County Dispatch received a report of a stranded motorist on Hwy 287 near MM 34. The Deputy responded to the area but was unable to locate any stranded vehicles.
09:18 A Deputy conducted a traffic stop on Hwy 287 at MM 45. The driver was issued a citation for speeding 77 mph in posted 65 mph zone.
11:20 Fire, EMS, Springfield PDS, and a Deputy responded to a small grass fire on CR 24.6 near the fairgrounds. Fire units quickly put the fire out. The cause of the fire is still under investigation.
