Obituary

Paula Felicita Garcia, of Parker, Colorado formally of La Junta, Colorado, passed away Friday February 21st, 2025, at the age of 88. Paula was born August 11th, 1936, in Taos, NM, to Fermin and Maria Garcia.

Paula spent her childhood in Taos until the family relocated to Ordway, Colorado. When she reached the age of independence she moved to and lived many years in Leoti, Kansas, returning to La Junta, Colorado in the late 1970's.

Paula was a beloved sister and aunt known as the family historian, she was able to recall stories and facts of all family members and lost loved ones. Even though she chose never to marry or have children of her own she loved children and often volunteered to babysit for her numerous nephews and nieces, leaving an invaluable memory of love and care.

Having to leave school at a young age to help support the family, she was very proud of achieving her GED at the age of 55, learning from and encouraging her family and friends.

Having experienced life during the great depression she learned the value of hard work, being frugal and the necessity of humor. The lessons and knowledge that she passed on are still being used and valued today by family and friends.

Paula was a very active participant of Our Lady of Guadalupe & St Patrick Catholic Church and Circle 5, where she was known for her hand made embroidery skills. She would embroider many sets of hand towels and pillowcases for the church events.

Paula is survived by Siblings, Lillan Morgan of Parker, Colorado, Helen (Thomas) Domingez of Harlingen, Texas, Ramon Garcia of Lawrence, Kansas, Ida (Donald) Mondragon of La Junta, Colorado, and many nieces, nephews and their family members. Paula is preceded in death by her parents, numerous siblings and their spouses, uncles, aunts and three nephews.
