Sarah Louise Florez, a beloved resident of Rocky Ford, Colorado, formerly of Thornton, Colorado, entered into eternal rest on February 25, 2025 surrounded by her family at the Parkview Medical Center in Pueblo, Colorado. She was born to Felipa Rodriguez and Johnny Gauna on July 21, 1962, in Rocky Ford, Colorado. Sarah lived a life full of love, faith, and compassion until the age of 62.

Sarah's legacy is carried on by her children: Steve Florez Jr. of Denver, Colorado; Annette (Jose Jaramillo) Florez of Colorado Springs, Colorado; Matt (Charlotte) Florez of Cary, North Carolina; and Melanie (Dell Warfield) Florez of Las Vegas, Nevada. Her grandchildren—Steven Florez III, Elias Florez, Santonio Jaramillo, Gabriel Florez, Heavenly Sepeda, Esperanza Sepeda, and Steven Warfield—will continue to cherish her memory.

She is also survived by her siblings: Steve (Mona) Baros of Colorado Springs, Colorado; Gene (Beverly) Gauna of Rocky Ford, Colorado; Johnny Gauna of Rocky Ford, Colorado; Brian (Tammy) Gauna of Rocky Ford, Colorado; Michael (Maria) Gauna of Rocky Ford, Colorado; Max Rodriguez of New Mexico; Jesus Rodriguez of Phoenix, Arizona; Noe Rodriguez of Arizona; Daniel Rodriguez of New Mexico; Michael Rodriguez of Silver City, New Mexico; Julie (Adam) Vigil of Colorado Springs, Colorado; and Marisa (Carlos) Martinez of Gilbert, Arizona.

Sarah was preceded in death by her husband, Steven Florez, parents, Felipa Rodriguez and Johnny Gauna, grandparents Ben and Flora Baros who raised her, and her brother, Raul Rodriguez.

Sarah dedicated several years of her life as a pharmacy tech at Good Samaritan Hospital in Denver, where her compassionate nature touched the lives of many. Her generous spirit and unwavering dedication to her family and friends were evident to all who knew her.

Her deep faith in God led her to be an active member of St. Peter’s Catholic Church in Rocky Ford for many years. Sarah and her husband, Steven Florez, were married at St. Peter’s Catholic Church on August 30, 1980, marking the beginning of a lifelong partnership filled with love and devotion.

Sarah had a zest for life and a special affection for her dog, Toto. She will be dearly missed by all those who were fortunate enough to know her and experience her kindness and love.

In the loving memory of Sarah Louise Florez, her life serves as a testament to the power of love, faith, and family. She leaves behind a legacy of warmth and compassion that will continue to inspire those who knew and loved her.
