Structure Fire Threatens Vehicles, Quickly Contained by Multiple Fire Departments After Escaped Control Burn

At approx 249pm today we were dispatched to the area of 35000 blk of Rd JJ for a reported structure fire.

While enroute we were update a large shop on fire and the fire had spread to several piles of railroad ties and brush.

Strong attack on the structure to stop the spread of the fire that was threatening three vehicles inside.

DFPC Engine 34 assisted and Mutual Aid was requested from Cheraw Fire and Las Animas Fire.

Crews used brush trucks and water tenders to contain the fire. Large amount of salvage and overhaul was conducted. The fire was accidentally started from an escaped control burn.

The Otero County Sheriff's Office also assisted with traffic control and Southeast Power responded to make sure the power was cut off to the shop.
