First Responders Faced -4° Temps in Head-On Semi Collision on Hwy 287 Near Springfield; Both Drivers Walk Away with Minor Injuries
07:27 this morning local Fire, local EMS, Colorado State Patrol, CDOT, and the Undersheriff and Sheriff braved -4 degree temperatures to respond to a two semi head on collision north of Springfield on Hwy 287 at Mile Marker 43.
Amazingly, both drivers walked away from this accident with only minor injuries.
(Update: Hwy 287 has Reopened) Please use caution, emergency units are still on scene while tow companies clean up the mess. Traffic is reduced to one lane and CDOT is alternating traffic from the north and the south.
Thank you to the Springfield Police Department and Prowers County authorities for closing north and southbound Hwy 287 while emergency crews and law enforcement worked to clear the wreckage.
