Obituary

Elvis Wilburn Baker was born July 15, 1927 in Foss Oklahoma, he is the son of Andrew Baker and Hetty Dewey. He married Doris Baker on Aug 28, 1951. Elvis and Doris resided in Rocky Ford and raised 3 children: Sherry, Larry and Alan. Elvis was a social, active man who was deeply involved in the Church of Christ for the majority of his life. He was a passionate man who enjoyed mechanic work, big or small.

He worked for the Otero County Shop for 42 years Where he eventually retired in 1998. In his spare time, he enjoyed spending time traveling with his wife, problem solving, wood whittling and entertaining his grandchildren and great grandchildren with many life stories.

1 son Alan (Cecilia) Baker of Rocky Ford, daughter-in-law Kim Baker of North La Junta, son-in-law Larry Pieper of Colorado City, 7 grandchildren: Jamin Pieper, Jody (Amy) Pieper, Lynette (Mone) White, Nicole (Eric) Hogan, Shane (Amanda) Baker, Alan Baker, Preston (Alicia) Baker, and numerous great-grandchildren. Preceded in death by his wife Doris, 1 son: Larry Baker, 1 daughter: Sherry Pieper, 1 great-granddaughter: Dakota Baker 6 brothers, 7 sisters, numerous nephews & nieces.

Services Held on Friday, February 21st, 2025 at 1:00pm at the Fowler Cemetery. Bellwood Ustick Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
