Springfield Police Arrest Repeat Offender for Trespassing and Theft

On January 31, 2025, officers from the Springfield Police Department responded to a report of trespassing at a residence on Colorado Street. Upon arrival, officers located an individual unlawfully on the property in possession of stolen firewood. The suspect was taken into custody without incident and transported to the Baca County Jail.

The individual faces charges of Second-Degree Criminal Trespass and Theft, both petty offenses under Colorado law. Typically, petty offenses do not result in an arrest; however, due to the suspect’s repeated history of trespassing and disregard for private property rights, this was the next logical step in addressing the ongoing issue.

After being advised by the courts, the suspect was granted a Personal Recognizance (PR) Bond by the courts.

The Springfield Police Department remains committed to protecting private property and ensuring community safety. Residents are encouraged to report any suspicious activity
