Obituary
Anna Jean Green (Marvin) died peacefully in her sleep on Thursday, December 19, 2024 in Pueblo, Colorado.
She is preceded in death by her husband, Herb Green, and daughter Carolyn, parents Lloyd and Emma Marvin, siblings Eva Lundy, Ruth Jordan, Ula Schultz, Doyle Marvin, Don Marvin, great granddaughter Kinsley Rogge, and son-in-law, Jerry Bonds.
She is survived by her sister, Wanda Chappell, sister-in-law Pat Marvin-Sitzman, and her daughters Gail Osborne (Clay), Leslie Bonds, Loretta Sharon (Dick) and Lynn Tekavec (Dennis), as well as her 13 grandchildren and their spouses, 34 great grandchildren, and numerous nieces and nephews.
Anna Jean was born on October 19, 1930 and was proud to have spent the entirety of her life in the Arkansas Valley. She graduated from Fowler High School in 1948 before working at the Bell Mountain Phone Company until 1949, when she married Herbert Green. They enjoyed a beautiful 51 years of marriage until Herbert’s death in 2000.
The most important things in Anna Jean’s life were her family, her community, and her service to the Lord. She and Herb were true servants to their community, always willing to lend a hand to others - and most of Fowler has at some point had the pleasure of tasting Anna Jean’s cinnamon rolls. One of her favorite experiences was serving as the Fowler Missouri Day Parade Marshall in 2014. She was also an active member of the Fowler Christian Church and Fowler West Assembly of God Church for many years.
She and Herb owned and operated Green Trucking in Fowler for over 40 years, where Anna Jean served as business manager and true business partner. They were known for the long-lasting relationships they built with all of their drivers, staff, and customers, with former employees stopping by well after their retirement for a coffee and a chat.
Though she spent 94 years living in the same area, she was blessed to have the opportunity to see the world, mostly through the International Flying Farmers & Ports of Call. She and Herb traveled and made lifelong friends all over North America, flying their Cessna 210 to various events. In fact, she was proud to be named the 1964 Flying Farmer Woman of the Year. They also made annual trips to both Oklahoma City and Las Vegas for the National Finals Rodeo, and owned a vacation property in Bullhead City, Arizona, allowing them to host frequent family reunions and enjoy Laughlin, Nevada. She and Herb were avid Broncos fans, and attended games as season-ticket holders since 1963.
Her ultimate joy, however, was her four girls and eventually, her sons-in-law, grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Right up until days before her passing, “Grandma Bobbie” could be seen attending various sport contests, rodeos, plays and performances, cheering loudly for those participating. There were always cookies in her cookie jar and Bobbie’s lap was constantly occupied by a child in need of some snuggling. She was the matriarch of a sprawling, yet close-knit family that will always be thankful for the affection and wisdom she bestowed on each and every one of them. She was a living example of faith and love, and her legacy will live on through those who loved her and for future generations to come.
Funeral services will be held at Fowler West Assembly of God on Friday, December 27 at 10 a.m. For those unable to attend, live streaming can be found at www.westassembly.org. Memorials in Anna Jean’s honor can be sent to Fowler West Assembly of God Church, Fowler Fire Department or any hospice of your choice.
