Mary Jane Losey entered into the gates of Heaven on December 19, 2024, with her family by her side.
She was the daughter of Wayne Theron Bond and Grace Viola (Van Zant) Bond. Mary Jane was born in Drumright, Oklahoma, on September 24, 1940. She was delivered by a Cherokee Medicine Man, Orange W. Starr, who later became her uncle by marriage.
Mary Jane attended schools in Rocky Ford, Colorado, and Las Animas, Colorado. Graduating in 1958 from Bent County High School. Mary Jane married Wilbur Junior Losey on June 15, 1958 in Las Animas, Colorado, and they settled in the Fort Lyon area and later on the Fort Lyon Station where Junior and Mary Jane were both employed. They purchased the farm south of Las Animas in October of 1963 where Mary Jane had lived as a youth. Junior passed away on February 8, 1974, when the children were young but remained at the same farm location. She continued living there until the time of her death.
Mary Jane loved office work and she was employed at Otero County Social Services when first married, Later Fort Lyon VA Hospital in the Personnel Office. She was bookkeeper for Penn Rexall Drug for 18 years doing the work at home while also employed at the Las Animas School District. While employed for the school district for 30 years, she worked under 8 principals. Within a week of her retirement, she was offered the part time job of bookkeeper at the Bent County Las Animas Cemetery District where she remained for 15 ½ years.
Mary Jane loved to travel in earlier years as well as dancing with her companion, Ralph Mestas at the Senior Center in La Junta in later years. Loving the Lord was a priority in her life. She was a member of the First Christian Church until its closure. She served in many offices there Secretary of the Board, Treasurer of the Board, Sunday school teacher and Deaconess. In 2000, she became a member of the Nazarene Church in Las Animas and served as Secretary and also Treasurer there as well as teaching Sunday school when needed.
Mary Jane was predeceased by her parents, her husband, Wilbur Junior Losey; her sisters, Betty Pennington and Patricia Clark, brothers, James R. Bond and Richard Lightcap; brothers-in-law, Ronald Losey, Clifford Pennington and Harold Clark; Mother and Father-in-law, Martha Anna Losey and Wilbur Losey, Sr. She is survived by her children, Ron W. Losey, Randy A. Losey and Rachel A. Losey and Carlos Gallegos; Sister-in-law, Linda Lightcap; Grandchildren, Coral Losey, Lanette Garrison, McKenzie Gallegos, Lilli Gallegos, Roman Gallegos and Lincon Gallegos; Great grandchildren, Olive Marie Whatley and Jaclyn Grace Garrison. Several nieces and nephews survive, many friends and her companion of many years, Ralph Mestas.

A Celebration of life will be held on March 22, 2025, location to be determined. Bellwood Ustick Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
