Sherry Ann Smith, 77, of Olney Springs, Colorado, a cherished mother, beloved grandmother, and devoted Army wife, passed away peacefully on November 18, 2024, in Pueblo, Colorado. Born on December 28, 1946, in Kansas to Albert & Mildred (Althaus) Blaine.
Sherry was known for her warm spirit and nurturing personality, which earned her the affectionate title of "neighborhood mom." She graduated from high school and then attended mechanic school, showcasing her keen interest in learning and adaptability.
A woman of many talents, Sherry dedicated her time to various hobbies, including crochet and arts and crafts, allowing her creativity to shine. She cherished traveling with her husband, Marshall Smith, whose memory she carries in her heart after his passing. Together, they explored many destinations, with one of her favorite memories being her trip to Germany, where she delighted in visiting crystal and handblown glass factories.
Sherry had a profound love for her dachshunds—Scooter, Bruiser, and Bella—and enjoyed the companionship of her grand-dachshunds, Fletcher and Roxy. Her love for animals mirrored her genuine love for people. Always willing to lend a helping hand, she often made meals for neighbors, embodying generosity and kindness throughout her life.
Sherry's greatest joy came from spending quality time with her family. She loved her children, grandchildren, and great-grandson deeply. Her legacy is carried on by her daughters, Deborah Millsaps of Farmington, UT, and Susan (Konrad) Schuman of Spanaway, WA; her grandchildren, D.J. Millsaps and Emily Millsaps, as well as Kelan Schuman and Kyler Schuman; and her great-grandson, Landon Millsaps. In addition to her immediate family, Sherry is survived by her brother, David Blaine of Ft. Collins, CO, as well as numerous nieces and nephews who held a special place in her heart. She preceded in death by her husband, Marshall Smith; her parents, Albert and Mildred Blaine; and her son-in-law, David Millsaps.
