Colorado State Patrol Reports on Fatal Hwy 101 Crash
Colorado State Patrol Troopers Responded to a Fatal Single-Vehicle Crash on April 15 at 3:40 PM on Hwy 101 at milepost 4.
One Fatal, Number of Vehicle(s) Involved: 1
Vehicle 1: 2006 Ford F-150
Driver: 40 year-old Female of Las Animas, CO, Fatal Injuries, Ejected, No Restraint Used, Pronounced Dead on Scene
Narrative:
Vehicle 1 was travelling northbound on Hwy 101. Vehicle one travelled off the right side of the highway, then attempted to steer back on to the highway. Vehicle applied excessive steering to the left and then to the right, causing vehicle 1 to enter a broadside spin on the road. Vehicle 1 travelled off the right shoulder of the road where it began to overturn as it went through a fence. Vehicle 1 rolled 2 and 1/4 times coming to final rest in a field on it's driver's side facing east.
At this time alcohol and drugs are not suspected and at this time excessive speed is not suspected of being a factor in this crash.
