Otero College will Host CCCS Statewide Strategic Planning Listening Tour on March 27

LA JUNTA — Otero College will be hosting the CCCS Strategic Plan Listening Tour on Wednesday, March 27, from 3 to 4:30 p.m. The meeting will take place in McBride Hall, Room 137, and is open to all staff, students, and community members.

Beginning in March, the Colorado Community College System (CCCS) and the State Board for Community Colleges and Occupational Education (SBCCOE) began a statewide listening tour that will help create a new strategic plan that will guide CCCS and all 13 colleges within the system from 2025 through 2030. They are coming to the Otero College campus as part of this tour.

CCCS has partnered with Keystone Policy Center to facilitate the listening sessions; develop plan goals and strategies; and combine data and feedback to create a shared vision for community colleges. CCCS expects to finalize the project later this year.

With Colorado observing major changes in student demographics, learning preferences, and different workforce needs, the five-year plan will explore creative methods of providing education and training that cater to today’s learners and employers.

Kim Zant, Otero College President, shared, “We are excited to welcome leadership from CCCS, SBCCOE, and the Keystone Policy Center for this event. We are looking forward to the collaboration with them and the other 12 colleges in our system for this project. I am confident that this process and eventual plan will help propel us into a future focused on meeting the diverse learning needs of our students as well as supporting our local businesses.”

Please plan to join us on Wednesday, March 27 at 3 p.m. in McBride 137 to share your input for this event. There will be a virtual option for those who cannot attend in person. Information with that link will be sent out shortly. If you have any questions, please contact Sarah Petramala, Executive Assistant to the President, at sarah.petramala@otero.edu.
