“Cruisin’ Into Fun” Festival" & “Keep Kids Safe” Fair

Tri-County Family Care Center (TCFCC) had their 16th Annual “Cruisin’ Into Fun Festival” & “Keep Kids Safe” Fair, on Saturday, June 4, 2022 in downtown Rocky Ford with about 700 people attending.

The AirMed Care Helicopter lands behind the Rocky Ford City Hall to give demonstrations to the kids attending the "Keep Kids Safe Fair."

Rocky Ford Chamber of Commerce sponsored a breakfast in front of the Gobin building with 60 attendees. Kenny Arguello was the Emcee and Carlos Aragon was the DJ. Dominique Robbins assisted with acquiring Entertainers.

There was entertainment throughout the day: Natalie Summers, Benjamin Morse (CS), Search of X (Denver), Andrew Ingram (Comedian), BluntFull Band and Jaguar Warrior Aztec Dancers.

Kids Games were in the park. Limbo winners were: Age 5-8: 1st – Adriana Ayala, 2 nd – Lovella Harmon, 3rd Kingston Herrera; Age 9-12: 1st –Haley Lopez, 2nd – Gianna Ayala, 3rd Abel Segura; Age 13-17: 1st – Matthius Harmon. Jump Rope winners were: Age 5-8; 1st - Maliyah Goode, 2nd - Amiyah Ruiz, 3rd – Guiseppi Taylor; Age 9-12: 1st – Abel Segura, 2nd – Angilee Soransford, 3rd – Hailey Lopez;

Age 13-17: 1st – Reanna Romero, 2nd – Jizella Olmedo, 3rd – Vicente Sandoval and Hula Hoop winners were: Age 5-8; 1st – Aja Willette, 2nd – Lovella Harmon, 3rd Ava Willette; Age 9-12; 1st – Aria Ham, 2nd - Hailey Lopez, 3rd - Landon Long; Age 13-17; 1st – Mathias Harmon, 2nd - Natalie Anu, 3rd - Jose Sanudo; Adult: Jennifer Harmon. Kid’s Games sponsors were: Tank & Tummy, Pepsi Beverages Company, Pizza Hut La Junta, Erlinda’s Salon & Rocky Ford Food Market.

Our “Got Wheels?” car show had 45 entries. Winners were: Larry Miller - Original, Glen Dwinell - Classic, Lee Fulbright - 4Wheel Drive, Paul Estrada - Customized, Ronnie & Stephany Hernandez - Lowrider, David Grano - Hotrod, Leonard Walgren - Antique, James Wright - Muscle Car, Roger Vigil - Motorcycle & Troy Lujan - Lowrider Peddle Bike.

People’s Choice award went to Tony Lopez. Wayne Walter had a large camouflaged truck. National Guard had a snow cat vehicle to explore.

Air Med Care helicopter landed in City Hall parking lot. Car Show sponsors were: H & R Tire, Ruby’s Auto Body, Absolute Automotive, Ruben’s Body Shop, NAPA/Valley Auto Parts, Perkins Chevrolet, Rocky Farms, SM Construction, The Liquor Cubby and C & M Details.

We had 41 vendors to include safety booths. “Keep Kids Safe” Fair had safety booths for children 16 and younger to receive a sticker for Bingo. After completed, they were entered into a drawing. Bingo winners were: Halie Jade Grey & Lawrence McGee. Cherrie’s Petting Zoo had pony rides and a petting zoo. ‘Keep Kids Safe’ Fair sponsors were: Wallace Oil Company, Arkansas Valley Lumber, Rivera Bail Bonds, Walter Tucker, SM Construction, First National Bank, AIS Medicare & More, Phillips Communications and Rocky Ford Economic/Community Development.

The Art Show was featured in the Public Safety building training room co-sponsored by Art Matters Productions and TCFCC. People were able to tour the new facility. The beer garden was sponsored by Rocky Ford Wrestling Foundation. Eric Hahn had a corn hole tournament, Good Day Disk Golf gave a demonstration.

The day’s festivities concluded with a Pie Eating Contest co-sponsored by TCFCC and Village Inn of La Junta. Winners were: Age 5-8 Tanaya Herrera; Age 9-12 Abel Segura; Age 13-17 Vicente Sandoval and 18 and older Marcos Gaona.

Event insurance sponsor was Van Dyk Insurance. Gold sponsors were: Otero County Health Department Tobacco Program, Dianne Willhoite, The State Bank – La Junta, Black Hills Energy, Hollar Seeds, City of Rocky Ford and Total Concept.
