Obituary

Gregory Wayne Grenard, 59, of La Junta passed away on Monday, April 25th, 2022, at Memorial Hospital in Colorado Springs. Greg was born to Ruth Muth Grenard and Max L. Grenard on April 1st, 1963, in La Junta.

He was a 1981 graduate of Swink High School where he was class president, and a third-generation attendee of Swink School. In 1985, Greg graduated with a bachelor’s degree in Agricultural Business from Colorado State University in Fort Collins.

While attending CSU, Greg was a member of the Farm House Fraternity. His love and passion for agriculture inspired him to land his first job as a loan officer for Federal Land Bank in Lamar. Eventually moving back to the La Junta area, Greg continued working as a loan officer for a total of 34 years as well as a chattel appraiser for an additional three years.
Greg was very involved in the Arkansas Valley community. He was on the board of the 4-H foundation, South Swink Water Association, and Farmers’ Lateral Company, to mention a few. He enjoyed being outside watching his children in their sports activities, hunting, barbequing and working around the yard and farm. Greg also enjoyed the various class reunions over the years along with visiting with customers and friends.

Greg is survived by his wife, Sharon (Markwell) Grenard, children, Marissa (Tyerek) Kirkland of Grand Junction; Cole (Kristin) Grenard of Lamar; Nolan Grenard of Burlington; sisters, Sharon (David) Klein of Swink; Karen (Randy) Hiraki of Rocky Ford; and Gail (Garry) McLain of Tucson, AZ; father, Max (Maxine) Grenard of La Junta; father-in-law, Jim Markwell of Rocky Ford; brother-in-law, Larry (Cheryl) Markwell of Nathrop; nephews and nieces, Matt (Heather) Klein, Brooke (Pryce) Peppler, Jaimie (CJ) Altenburg, Leah Pommier, Lily Pommier, Clint Pommier, Savannah McLain, Cheyenne McLain, Breanna Markwell, Blair (Kim) Markwell, one grandchild, Caelyn Grenard, and various of aunts and uncles. He was preceded in death by his mother, Ruth Muth Grenard, mother-in-law, Aneta Markwell, maternal and fraternal grandparents, and various aunts and uncles.

Celebration of Life service will be held Saturday, May 7, 2022, at 10:00 a.m. at the Pat Lesar Memorial Gym in Swink. Interment will follow at Valleyview Cemetery in Rocky Ford. Lunch will be served at the multipurpose room at the Swink School.
