Obituary

Nancy Lee Casebolt, 88, passed away on February 27, 2022, at the Fowler Healthcare Center in Fowler. She was born on February 28, 1933, in Lincoln, Nebraska to F.B. “Curly” & Etha (Parks) Thompson; she adored her adoptive parents. She married her high school sweetheart Edwin Dale Casebolt on September 16, 1951; he preceded her in death on October 31, 2018.

She attended schools in Lincoln, NE, and Denver and she graduated from La Junta high school in 1951. She moved to La Junta in 1945 where she met and married Dale Casebolt. Upon her graduation in 1951 she went to work at the La Junta State Bank, Standard Credit and General Credit. She quit to be a stay-at-home mother in 1956 when Rhonda was born.

She will be remembered most as a preschool teacher and daycare provider. She opened her daycare in 1967. In 1974 she started Nancy’s Nursery, a morning preschool program to go along with her daycare. From 1974 to 1989, she taught hundreds of children the joy of singing, laughing and playing all while learning.

She is survived by her daughter, Rhonda (Norman) Mitts and son, D. Alan (Betsy) Casebolt, and her three grandchildren, Jeffrey Mitts, Rileigh (Mike) DiDomenico, and Makenna Casebolt. She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, and her 5 lb. silver poodle, Missy - her special joy whom she called her third child.

A Memorial Service will be held at 10:00 a.m. Saturday, April 23rd at the United Methodist Church in La Junta. Inurnment will be at Fort Logan National Cemetery in Denver.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the United Methodist Church, 601 San Juan Avenue, La Junta, CO 81050, for use in their nursery and preschool classrooms direct or through the funeral home.
