LA JUNTA —  Intelligent.com, a trusted resource for online/on-campus program rankings and higher education planning, has included Otero College to its list of the Best Community Colleges in Colorado in 2022. The research identifies 20 top programs in the state based on flexibility, faculty, course strength, cost, and reputation.

Otero College was awarded Best Athletics Program on the final list. Intelligent.com implemented a unique methodology that ranks each program on a scale from 0 to 100 across five categories. The scoring system compares each university according to program strength, student readiness, return on investment, cost, and student engagement. Researchers compared 56 programs from 34 colleges in the state of Colorado.

Otero President, Tim Alvarez said, “Otero has a long and sustained history of fielding highly competitive intercollegiate athletic teams. Presently, we have 12 programs and nearly 250 athletes participating in programs from basketball to rodeo. Athletes come from around the world to play here because of the winning culture and intimate supportive educational environment. And most of our athletes graduate and transfer to regional and national four-year institutions. We have exceedingly talented coaches and staff who provide a supportive environment that allows athletes to not only thrive academically, but athletically. Otero College athletes develop a deep sense of pride and will forever be consider a “Rattler”. Our goal is to support student-athletes to be prepared to transfer or be career ready.”
