Injury Crash on Eastbound I-70

The roadway is reopened

(PALISADE, COLO) - On June 1, 2026, at approximately 9:46 a.m., the Colorado State Patrol responded to a single-vehicle crash involving a Nissan Pathfinder on eastbound I-70 at milepost 45 near Palisade.

The preliminary crash indicates that the Nissan was in the right lane, drifted to the right side of the road, when the driver overcorrected. The Nissan then rotated left into the center median before striking the guardrail and rolling over on its side. The driver was ejected.

Two occupants from the Nissan were transported to a local area hospital. The driver of the Nissan, a 34-year-old male, is in critical condition. The passenger of the Nissan, a 47-year-old male from Florida, had serious bodily injury.

The Colorado State Patrol is leading the crash investigation with no cause determined at this time.

Eastbound I-70 was closed for approximately 4 hours. The roadway was opened at approximately 1:44 p.m.
