Subject attempts to bribe officers after causing a disturbance with city park workers
04/14/26 Officers of the Lamar Police Department were dispatched to the Northside Park in the 300 Blk of N. 5th St. Officers received a call from a City of Lamar employee who was performing mowing and maintenance duties at the park. The call was regarding an individual being aggressive towards the employee, not allowing him to complete his work and creating a disturbance by yelling profanities and refusing to let the employee mow. Upon arrival, officers recognized Casey Orne Gehrer, 47 years of age, from Lamar due to his extensive contact history. Officers contacted Mr. Gehrer, who failed to comply with a lawful detention and was physically detained for further investigation.
During transport to the Prowers County Jail, Mr. Gehrer attempted to bribe the officer to release him from custody. Mr. Gehrer offered the officer millions of dollars he was set to receive from a pending oil rights lawsuit out of state, and a percentage of his lawsuit settlement he was going to receive from pending legal action against Prowers County. Mr. Gehrer enticed the officer with an offer to retire early if he took his deal.
As tempting as the last offer was, the officer declined Mr. Gehrer’s proposition. Mr. Gehrer was booked into the Prowers County Jail and held on a $20,000 bond.
All subjects are presumed innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
