Obituary

Jean Lasserre, a devoted husband, father, and grandfather, was born in St Louis, MO on October 4, 1945, to Julien and Darleen Lasserre. He was 79 years of age. He passed away peacefully on September 19, 2025, surrounded by his loving family at CentraCare in St. Cloud, MN. Born with a passion for service and skilled craftsmanship, Jean proudly served in the United States Navy from 1966 to 1970, where he acquired valuable electrical skills that would shape his lifelong career.

After his honorable service, Jean dedicated his professional life to the electrical trade, owning and operating Ordway Wiring. His work took him and his family to different places, including Craig and Grand Junction, CO, before returning to Ordway, CO, where he concluded his career with The City of La Junta, retiring in 2005. Upon retirement, Jean settled in Texas to be closer to his sons. He loved classic cars, and attending car shows. His special car was his yellow 1934 Plymouth Coupe. Jean also enjoyed camping, fishing and especially his family.

Jean’s legacy is carried on by his beloved wife of 43 years, Mary Lasserre; his children, Bill Lasserre of Texas, Ruby (Dave) Back of Kansas, Jennie (Archie) Montanez of Ordway, CO, and Sherry Vetere of Cheraw, CO; his brothers Tim of Minnesota, Brian (Debra) of Texas, David (Angie) of Minnesota; and his sisters Pam Moore of Colorado and Andrea (Rick) Pennetta, Colorado. He is also survived by numerous grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces, and nephews who will cherish his memory.

Jean was preceded in death by his loving parents Julien and Darleen Lasserre, his son Patrick Lasserre of Texas, and his brothers Alan, Terry, and Danny Lasserre. Though he is no longer with us, Jean’s enduring love, kindness, and dedication to his family and community will be remembered by all who knew him.

A Celebration of Life will be held on October 10, 2025, at River of Life Fellowship, 411 E 9th St, Ordway, Colorado, beginning at 10:30 AM. A burial service with military honors will take place on October 13, 2025, at Fort Logan National Cemetery in Denver, Colorado.

Jean will be deeply missed and forever remembered for the warmth and kindness he shared throughout his life.
